It seems that we'll be seeing a new incarnation of some famous puppets in theaters during the holidays next year. eRc Box Office is reporting that Walt Disney Pictures has slated The Muppets for release on December 25, 2011.

James Bobin will direct from a script by the Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller and Jason Segel, with Segel also set to star in the film as well.

It hasn't been revealed yet when the film will go into production, but we'll be sure to keep you posted with any further news regarding The Muppets as soon as we have more information.

The Muppets was released November 23rd, 2011 and stars Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, Donald Glover, Danny Trejo. The film is directed by James Bobin.
