Disney Parks Captain Nemo: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
According to Variety, the studio confirmed that it won't proceed with the film for now, and reps for the director confirmed he has withdrawn. While names like Will Smith were rumored as possible stars, no cast was ever set. The project had been on a fast track under the Dick Cook regime.
Studio says the film is still priority under new chief Rich Ross, but no new production date has been scheduled.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo comes to theaters in 2013. The film is directed by David Fincher.

Does Will Smith have to change everything? Wild Wild West, I am Legend, Karate Kid.
I would rather see him as The Green Lantern, which I'm sure with him in the role would be a sure-fire block buster. He is a very good actor, as of late. His skill in the art has come a long way.
I did like him in "I am Legend" as well as "Hanc*ck", "Hitch", "I Robot" and "Enemy of the State". He swims well when he's playing a fish out of water.
I think if he was going to be in 20,000 Leagues, he'd be better to play the hero harpooner Ned Land, originated by Kirk Douglas, because he could incorporate that "fish out of water technique" into the Ned Land role. Also, he's not old enough to play Nemo. Nemo is supposed to be around fifty or so.
But we'll see. He's taken roles and pulled them off before. Maybe he'll pilot the Nautilus successfully, if he's not trying to kill it with a harpoon.
But, what is it with him doing all of these roles, that were originally done by white actors?
