Disney Gets Off the Road with Wild Hogs 2: Bachelor Ride

In a story from Variety, Disney's has halted development of Wild Hogs 2: Bachelor Ride.

The Touchstone Pictures sequel was slated to begin production by next summer. Walt Becker was returning as director, and John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy were coming back as biker pals in midlife crisis.

Wild Hogs original writer Brad Copeland had penned the sequel script, and new writers were about to come on board. Then word came down that the movie wasn't going to get made. None of the actors involved in this project were pay or play.

Nobody knows for certain why Wild Hogs 2: Bachelor Ride was scrapped, "but the understanding in the community is that getting a production start on a film in the Mouse House will be a big challenge if it doesn't squarely fit the Disney family branded model."

Things get even harder for Touchstone films, which are meant to be edgier.

Wild Hogs 2: Bachelor Ride was released in 2010 and stars John Travolta, William H. Macy, Martin Lawrence, Tim Allen. The film is directed by Walt Becker.

It's odd considering how horrible the film has been cited that it profited $193 Million at the box office after breaking even its' $60 Million. Touchstone hasn't done bad flicks, and Disney adding these restrictions is retarded, coming from the company who bought the film rights to Robert Graysmith's "Zodiac" (1986) & "Zodiac Unmasked" (2002). I mean how did they think they were gonna tone that down for a family audience. Point being it's evidence that they buy the rights to as much as they can so they can turn a profit. People shouldn't sell their works to companies like this that are either gonna f*ck it up or shelf it for decades.

No, because they need time to make Old Dogs 2:Step Up to the Streets.

i don't care why it's not getting made - i'm just glad it's not. i'm with Marcus - there's no need for a sequel. why do studious think we need to keep telling the lives of certain characters? we get it - they had midlife crises, they were resolved, their lives moved on. we don't need to see the next phase of their lives.
some movies are built for sequels, franchises and on-going sagas. Wild Hogs is not one of them. One need not look further than that lame (hopefully working - though I doubt it) subtitle for evidence: "Bachelor Ride".
    EPIC FAIL.

I think it was halted because Allen and Travolta used up most of the world's Botox supply during the filming of the first movie.
