Discovery Communications is breaking new ground with it's Discovery Atlas series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, episodes of Discovery Atlas are going to be released "on HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc formats, as well as standard DVD." Discovery Communications says this is a first for a TV series.

Discovery Atlas: China Revealed is going to be the first title to get "the multiplatform treatment." Sunday on the Discovery Channel and Discovery HD Theater it's going will have it's television premiere.

The Discovery Atlas: China Revealed DVDs will able to be purchased from "Discovery's 100-plus retail stores late next month." Discovery is even putting together a sweepstakes in which the winner receives a free trip to China.
