Director Zack Snyder Denies Any Involvement with New Star Wars Franchise

Zack Snyder is not making a new Star Wars movie
Earlier today, we reported the intriguing news that Man of Steel director Zack Snyder is developing an Untitled Star Wars Movie loosely based on Seven Samurai.

Now, we have word that a representative for the filmmaker has debunked the story. Take a look at the official statement released on behalf of the director.

"While he is super flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars. He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Rise of an Empire."

While Zack Snyder may not be involved, this doesn't mean that the project isn't happening. We reported in November that Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are writing two different movies that will serve as spin-offs to Star Wars: Episode VII.

Untitled Zack Snyder Star Wars Movie comes to theaters in 2016. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

Star Wars: Episode VII comes to theaters in 2015 and stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

He's still gonna do it, I'll bet. First of all, The Vulture is a pretty legitimate mag and they seemed pretty certain. Also, anyone who knows how the movie business works, they should know it's very feasible to be working on early negotiations and pre-production on a movie that won't be released for at least another 3 years, while finishing up movies that are coming out THIS YEAR. Does the rep really expect us to believe Zack did no preparations for his next project past what's coming out in 2013? I think it's just a cover-up.

@Michael-Kolesik -- Awesome. May the rest of your 30 years (or so) bring you misery and regret.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Painful. Because you can see these things happen before they happen in your time. But good too, because I get around the suspense and hopefully help others with theirs.

Ladies and gentlemen... I'm from the future. I've come back to tell you that since no director could be found...

The next Star Wars trilogy is canceled. You're welcome.

LOVE Zack Snyder, but I'm not sure if I could dig his vision in the Star Wars universe anyway, so I'm kinda in the middle on this news. I wanna see someone like Peter Jackson take on the series, to be honest. Guillermo Del Toro would even be an awesome choice.

I find that Zack is an excellent director, loved Sucker Punch and the rest of his films. There's a lot of excellent directors that have been given the chance but turned it down because one of the reasons is because its through Disney.
Zack could no should make a D&D film from what I've seen him do.

For all the Synder haters, I think after everyone sees Man Of Steel they'll start wanting Snyder for everything, just like they want everything with Nolan.

Good. If they want to keep the franchise alive, keep Snyder out of the director's chair.

While I like the Seven Samurai idea, I'm glad Zack isn't involved. I don't see him as a good director for Star Wars (maybe Man of Steel will change my mind).
