Director Paul Greengrass Won't Direct the Fourth Jason Bourne Film

The Playlist is reporting that director Paul Greengrass has left the production of the fourth Jason Bourne film, which is currently in development at Universal Pictures.

It was said that there are currently two scripts for the project, one by The Bourne Ultimatum co-writer George Nolfi and another by Josh Zemuter. It seems that no one cares much for Nolfi's script and Greengrass wasn't happy when Zemuter was hired without consulting with him first. Greengrass is currently working on post-production of his latest film with star Matt Damon, The Green Zone, which was said to be in a bit of trouble itself with the budget escalating to $150 million, from its original $100 million budget.

I think Paul Greengrass has done the right thing. When fresh screenplays or scripts come in, the Monotony of the SAME cast-crew losing its bite and getting farther and farther from the real DUAL between Carlos, the Assassin in real life France and Europe and a fictitious CIA agent created by Ludlum (Such a brilliant story, indeed) thus giving us an impetuous to wait for REALLY good and fresh Script writers, who can really write about the Original story. In fact, if you watch the Teleplay 'The Bourne Identity' starring Richard Chamberlaine and Jaclyn Smith, from the mid eighties, you will feel the real intensity between Carlos and Bourne characters, beautifully portrayed by Ludlum. If Matt Damon wants to make any more or star in any more Bourne movies, then the best route would be to go to the BASIC STORY, which was all about Jason Bourne being created to draw the master assassin, Carlos and then Bourne loses his memory, thus turns in the eyes of CIA and his mentors 'Treadstone 71' It was almost tragic that the successful trilogy by Matt Damon- Greengrass didn't even MENTION once the name of Carlos in any of their 'Brilliant 3 movie series' Hope, someone is reading this and listening to the idea. Best wishes, Matt Damon.

Indeed, they shouldn't have hired the writer without asking him. Hopefully he will come back to Bourne very soon.

Agreed. And Green Zone looks unique and I look forward to it, but many viewers weren't to pleased with it. He might need Bourne to bail him out later on, so this isn't a good move for him. But he has a point about the writer being hired without his consent.
