Despicable Me Tops DVD Sales Charts

Despicable Me DVD The evil Gru and his Minions could not be stopped on the home video sales charts, as Despicable Me repeated atop the DVD sales charts for the second week in a row.

Salt debuted in third place on the DVD sales charts, behind the blockbuster Inception. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Toy Story 3 rounded out the top 5 in DVD sales. Salt also finished third place in Blu-ray sales, with a solid 39% of all units sold in the 1080p format.

Salt managed a win atop the DVD rental charts, since it isn't placed on a 28-day delay from Netflix and Redbox like many new releases are. Easy A, which also debuted last week, finished in second place on the rental charts. Both Salt and Easy A were released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Inception did manage to repeat atop the Blu-ray sales charts in its third week on shelves. The Christopher Nolan movie is still selling strong in 1080p, with an impressive 43% of all units sold last week coming in the Blu-ray format. Despicable Me finished second on the BD sales charts, but with only 23% of its total sales coming in the high-def format.

Despicable Me was released July 9th, 2010 and stars Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Julie Andrews, Will Arnett, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier. The film is directed by Pierre Coffin, Chris Renaud.
