Dermot Mulroney Steps Into James Garner's Shoes as Rockford
Dermot Mulroney is Jim Rockford
Mulroney's take on the character is being described as "slightly crumpled, wry humored, cynical, world weary, compassionate when it's called for and easily irritated by morons." It is also known that this Jim Rockford will come from a troubled past, having served time as both a convict and a decorated cop.
NBC is likely to air The Rockford Files this Fall.

Beau Bridges Opens Up The Rockford Files - just click on this Link above and you'll read that: Bridges will play Rocky, the father of Dermot Mulroney's Jim Rockford. I Don't like House and I shudder that Mr. David Shore wrote House the way he did and that I Hope Rockford Files won't be another overboard extreme violence, "so-called jokes" and foul language with general vulgarity as pertains to us as women! Tv is almost getting so absurd in some ways almost as bad as some movies have become! Is it to much to ask that this show this fall Will actually be close to what the Rockford files used to be like?? I mean it wasn't boring back then when I watched it but of course you would have to modernize(a little more interesting plots) it but Not Too Much. Or else you are just going to ruin it!

Amazingly, you never said that one of the things of his troubled past was being a soldier! Theres been too many references to war in movies lately!! Hes going to make a Fantastic Jim Rockford. You Should have got James Garner as his Father. Beau Bridges will be excellent, but Mr. Garner would have been the Perfect obvious choice! It wouldn't have mattered if he's an older man now. I bet you would have gotten more people watching it if Mr. Garner would have been in it. I Know I would've watched it. Maybe I will watch it and see if I like it enough to see again and again.

Perfect fit. He has the same quirky personality like James Garner - doesn't take himself too seriously. Same personality as Rockford had. Who's suppose to play Rockford's dad? I hope they do not make this into a dark detective show. There's enough on TV already. When I saw "slightly crumpled - please no take off on Columbo! I love Dermot and always liked his "I can laugh at myself" personality.
