Tony Scott was set to direct the film, which would have found Washington playing a train engineer that jumps into a runaway locomotive full of toxic chemicals. With the help of a young conductor (Chris Pine), the two must stop the train before hitting a hairpin turn and decimating a small town. Washington was asked to shave $4 million off his $20 million asking price, but the actor declined the offer.
The studio is now shopping the project around to other actors. At this time, Tony Scott is still attached to direct.
Unstoppable was released November 12th, 2010 and stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pine, Rosario Dawson, Ethan Suplee, Kevin Dunn, Kevin Corrigan, Kevin Chapman, Lew Temple. The film is directed by Tony Scott.

I wonder if Denzel would starve or something if he had accepted those 16 million dollars.

Well hopefully he will find an interesting project. I would have loved Denzel to be in this but will probably still check it out to see how Pine performs.

another denzel/tony scott film. this is starting to get old. i think ol tony needs to find a new leading man. he's starting to lose my confidence. nothing against denzel, he's a great actor but it's really getting repetitive and old. almost like his brother and russell crowe.

The only reason I would want to see Denzel follow through with this over-used idea, is that I want to see him alongside Chris Pine. That would be cool.

It makes perfect sense he just did a really sh*tty out of control train movie as some sort of train engineer with Tony Scott, that flopped by the way, and now he's going to do the same thing all over again. I would of laughed in Scott's face if he brought that to me after the last piece of garbage.
