Death Race to Speed Into Theaters a Month Early

Universal Pictures has announced a schedule change concerning their upcoming remake of Death Race 2000. The Paul W.S. Anderson directed film, entitled simply Death Race was originally set to open on September 26th, 2008. It will now open this summer on August 22nd, 2008.

Jason Statham leads the cast of this action-thriller set in the post-industrial wasteland of tomorrow, with the world's most brutal sporting event as its backdrop. A penitentiary full of felons has inspired the jailers to create a grisly pastime ripe for lucrative kickbacks. Now, adrenalized inmates, a global audience hungry for televised violence and a spectacular arena come together to form the Death Race.

Also starring in the film are Tyrese Gibson, Joan Allen, and Ian McShane.

Death Race was released August 22nd, 2008 and stars Jason Statham, Joan Allen, Ian McShane, Tyrese Gibson, Natalie Martinez, Max Ryan, Jason Clarke, Frederick Koehler. The film is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.

    Ringwraither, a movie's worth is not solely based on it's box office...that measure counts more for the bean counters/studio executives. $ is important, but, the movie's merit, what it means to the viewer is worth more.

    The premise for this action movie sounds solid and Statham's involvement means this movie will kick ass! Most movies don't turn a profit until they go to dvd/rental...and Death Race2000 will make bank.
