Deadpool Still Happening Insists Ryan Reynolds

There have been numerous reports that Green Lantern just isn't very good from people close to the movie. Some fans have responded in kind in terms of the trailer. One of the biggest gripes has been Hal Jordan's CGI'd costume, which appears in place of a real latex covered body.

Actor Ryan Reynolds, who plays Hal in this big screen version of the DC Comics adaptation, has responded to that negativity, explaining why he thinks the CGI is needed for the story.

"It has to be virtual rather than spandex. This is a suit from an alien planet. It's not The Dark Knight - I don't put the suit on and my voice drops several octaves. The suit is powered specifically on his will, his emotion, his creativity and his imagination. I love that. Everything Hal creates are images from his childhood. Or things fuelled specifically from his own mind."

Ryan Reynolds then went onto address the Deadpool issue, where fans feel as though he has pulled away from this project and that it won't ever happen. The actor actually stated the contrary.

"Deadpool's still in the works. I'm not sure how logistically it works in terms of scheduling, but yeah, I want it to happen."

Some have worried that the worlds of Green Lantern and Deadpool may be clashing. Ryan Reynolds insists that's not true.

"Those two universes are completely different. Superhero movies are so pervasive in pop culture, I don't look at them as superhero roles as much as just roles. They're such different people. Deadpool is about a guy in a highly militarized shame spiral, Green Lantern is more universally themed."

With a script for Green Lantern 2 having already been commissioned, it is unclear if Deadpool is being put on the backburner for the long haul, or if it will come between the first two DC Comics adventures.

Green Lantern was released June 17th, 2011 and stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Temuera Morrison, Jenna Craig, Jon Tenney, Mike Doyle. The film is directed by Martin Campbell.

Deadpool is in development and stars Ryan Reynolds.

Oh, and Supes - Don't be callin' Lois' voice a lesbian! XD

@dan1: I don't think Delaney is "gay" but I know for certain she is a liberal. So if anything she supports gay rights and is at the very least "curious" about the fairer sex. :P - I dunno if I'll watch her new show "right away" but I'll definitely catch the pilot and see if it interests me after that. On a side note, watching so much TV is exhausting. :( - So I second what @shuabert said... (especially about more med dram's so soon after ER.) I do like HawthoRNe though (Jada Pinkett rocks).

@shuabert: I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'd love and fully support Dana Delaney playing a live-action version of Lois. She's already got the voice, but this way we'd get to actually *see* her in the role. She's got the look, too even without the dark hair. :)

I should also point out that she was on Presidio Med years ago... If this new one isn't much different from any others, she should really think about branching out. :P

@shuabert For some reason that doesn't surprise me that she'd be on a show about lesbians. Does have a bit of that vibe lol.

Anyways, yeah, I have a sh*t load of shows coming up for me as well. I need to catch up on V, I'm watching Young Justice, just finished Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, About to start up with Camelot and Game of Thrones, and then of course everyone's favorite, True Blood over the summer. That's just to name a couple.

@dan1 Probably not. I have enough TV on my plate as it is, and another medical drama isn't really on my radar right now. I feel like 15 seasons of ER was plenty to whet my appetite for that. Now, I have been watching The L Word on Netflix, and was pleasantly surprised to see her pop up as a guest on one episode as a politician.

@lane1 Yay for rare agreement! Although, we also agree on the fact that Dana Delaney is awesome.

Also, I'll put it out there that the first two Spy Kids flicks are pretty awesome. I can't say the same for any of his kids movies after those because I haven't seen them. But the consensus seems to be that they suck.

no one is complaining that the suit is CGI... they are compaining (myself included) because it was done POORLY (from what we have seen so far). i completely understand WHY it had to be CGI... i just wish they did a better job with it.

Completely agreed with @shuabert (very few times does this happen. :P) I mean, the guy did Sin City, Planet Terror, and Desperado for cryin' out loud. I don't think anyone had many complaints about those. Definitely not Sin City. I don't see why so many people seem to doubt him.

If the only reason is because of Spy Kids, pfft, who cares? So he made a corny kids movie that happened to get turned into a series that a lot of others wish hadn't. Big deal. Me, I'm indifferent to that fact. I know he's a good director, that's all I need. Rodriguez and Reynolds would seem like a match made in heaven, to me.

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n : He's known for making gritty, violent action flicks on a small budget that have a dark sense of humor and are visually striking. You may not personally think any of his movies are good, but you're the minority. Almost all of his movies are certified fresh on RottenTomatoes. Studios love him because he makes his films on the cheap and they almost always turn a big profit, and therefore they leave him alone to make the movies he wants.

In case anyone had a doubt that he pays attention to what the fans think, "I don't put the suit on and my voice drops several octaves." LMAO... that's classic. I believe that's the only complaint anyone had with TDK and this guy knows it. I've been willing to give this a shot since he recited the oath for that kid at Comic Con. Still not saying it'll be good or great, but I'll give him a shot.
