David Slade Talks Daredevil Reboot

Director David Slade clears up some Daredevil rumors
Director David Slade clears up some Daredevil rumors
Director David Slade, who we just reported last week is attached to direct 20th Century Fox's Daredevil Reboot, wanted to give an update to clear up any rumors about the Daredevil Reboot, as well as Deadpool and The Wolverine, via his Twitter page. Here is what he had to say:

"So without breaking confidentiality, yes Daredevil, we have a great outline for a very strong character driven take on Mr. Matt Murdock. It will bare no relation to the previous Daredevil movie in any way. We are at early planning stages and have not yet discussed any cast.

Love Deadpool, was never engaged in the (quite fantastic) script, last I heard studio was looking at comedy directors. None of my business.

The Last Voyage of Demeter, Noomi Rapace and Ben Kingsley want to do it, so do I.

The Wolverine, there have been no discussions about this project to date. Interesting to see what will happen with that as the again excellent script by Chris McQuarrie was set largely in Japan."

Daredevil is in development .

The Last Voyage of Demeter comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Noomi Rapace, Ben Kingsley. The film is directed by Neil Marshall.

The Wolverine comes to theaters July 26th, 2013 and stars Hugh Jackman, Famke Janssen, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima. The film is directed by James Mangold.

@narrator If Stick plays any kind of role, then it seems a certainty that the Hand will appear in some way. And ignoring Stick would be a disservice to the story. That's my reason for bringing the Hand in early.

@ejk1, I'm in agreement on Page's character being a major factor in the trilogy, as well as saving Bullseye for the second film (who, aside from Kingpin, is DD's most infamous rouge), much like Nolan's use of the Joker in The Dark Knight. However, I think opening the franchise with the major involvement of the Hand might be the wrong way to go. I say hint at certain things, but don't actually mention who they are in this first film, much like Quantum was only alluded to in Casino Royale.

As for Slade, it's cool that he put in 3 sentences about the film, but he has yet to win me over.

For starters, kudos to Slade for at least talking about his movie, unlike some director that has friends spread rumors about his movie to Variety and other such publications.

As for DD, he's one of my favorite characters of all-time, and deserves a movie series worthy of him. The main problem with the first movie was that the studio misguidedly chopped it up in final cuts. The extended version is very good, and explains the parts that left critics and audiences confused. Here's my opinion as to what should happen with this: Incorporate Karen Page in the first film, and leave Elektra and Bullseye for the second. Make sure Stick, the Chaste, and the Hand are prominent in this first film, with Kingpin working in a subplot to grab power behind the scenes.

why a remake? just do a follow up with another actor otherwise it is to difficult to follow

for some reason i think Ryan Kwanten would make a great Daredevil. Foreign actors for superheroes is the way to go these days

I don't feel like we will ever get a Deadpool movie.I don't care how good the script is, it just doesn't seem like the studio wants to do it :(

i also thought that affleck was great as daredevil. but since they are recasting it, what about Michael C Hall? just a thought. im actually looking forward more to the DD movie than i am any of the other movies he mentioned. i can honestly do without another movie with wolverine in it and deadpool i could care less about. i've been waiting for another daredevil movie for a long time.

@Masta_Chiefed i agree on both accounts: (1) Affleck was a good DareDevil, (2) so many reboots/remakes are over-saturating the market and will cause mainstream audiences or casual movie goers to lose interest.
on a side note - why did Slade say Deadpool was looking to cast comedy actors? i thought reynolds was already deadpool (though i'd be very happy if he was recast)?

See, this is what Webb should do, just a quick blurb to acknowledge what's being rumoured...
Still, he did not address the ugly non-talented bastard rumoured to be playing DareDevil....

I want a Daredevil reboot, but I am not convinced by the director. As for who should play Daredevil... I am still of the opinion that Guy Pearce is the best choice, but what about Bradley Cooper? I saw Limitless last night, so he's still fresh in my mind (especially since he made a very shaky premise some what enjoyable).

Too many remakes and reboots. The casual movie fan base will lose interest.

Affleck was actually a decent daredevil.

The whole graphic novel/ comic book cinematic aesthetic is being beaten to death. Just work with the previous movie. Honestly, it would be easy... I hate hollywood.
