Precious director Lee Daniels has added cast to his civil rights-era follow-up Selma. British actor David Oyelowo is set to play the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Oyelowo joins a cast that already includes Hugh Jackman, who will play a racist sheriff.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film revolves around the historic marches staged by King in 1965 in Selma, Ala. The part of Alabama Gov. George Wallace remains up for grabs.

Selma, as in Alabama, was the place where segregation in the South was at its worst, and lead to a march that ended in violence, forcing a famous statement by President Lyndon B. Johnson that ultimately led to the signing of the Civil Rights Act.

No production date has been set.

Selma was released in 2010 and stars Hugh Jackman, Liam Neeson, David Oyelowo, Lenny Kravitz, Cedric the Entertainer. The film is directed by Lee Daniels.
