David Haye bids for 007 in James Bond 23
MGM recently announced that it hopes to have James Bond 23 in theaters by November of 2012. Which means that production will likely start sometime in 2011. With Daniel Craig currently committed to all three chapters of The Millinium Trilogy, starting with the now-in-production The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it is unclear if he will be able to return to the role that made him a household name. MGM is considering a replacement, with David Haye actively pursuing the part.
When asked about his aspirations to take over the project if Craig is unable to return, British born Haye told The Sun, "I've always been a fan of the action hero. Schwarzenegger was my hero growing up and obviously you've got Sylvester Stallone as Rocky. Me? I wouldn't mind James Bond. Yes, the first black James Bond definitely appeals."
Haye will defend his world heavyweight title against Audley Harrison this weekend. It will be the frist all-British world heavyweight title fight since Lennox Lewis fought Frank Bruno more than seventeen years ago.
Skyfall comes to theaters November 9th, 2012 and stars Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Craig, Helen McCrory, Javier Bardem, Tonia Sotiropoulou, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris. The film is directed by Sam Mendes.

I don't seriously believe he was ever up for Spiderman. Nor will they EVER cast a non-white in the Bond role. But nice work by his publicist to get his name associated with BOTH these A-list franchises, when there's no basis whatsoever to this news, as far as I can see. Just a pity his publicist isn't experienced enough to actually leak his name in BELIEVABLE news.

Man why don't they just drop Justin Bieber into the role LMAO... But seriously Bond has a certain look that has been portrayed very well by Craig and originally by Connery. Ian Fleming himself disagreed on the use of Connery as bond because he did not fit his vision of what bond should look like. The long and the short is that James Bond cannot be played by just anyone...

@Indiago183: Ditto.
@Narrator: Way back on page 3 you mentioned your preference for the changed endings of "Watchmen" & "LOTR." Which ending for the latter? The third one where the 'Scouring of the Shire' was cut? Cuz I agree that didn't fit well with the story they were telling, nor in the novels either as Tolkien did it just cuz he felt Hobbiton should bear the weight of the suffering too. Lame reasoning to me. The return of Saruman there was cop-moive-esque in that he's the villainous character rendered insignificant who returns to spar with the hero one more time. But unlike in cop movies, that was a big downer in "Return of the King."

No Craig there should be no Bond if need be postpone till he is available to finish ARC series. As for looking for his replacement look for someone not as boring as "Roger Bore". But seriously what craig brings to the screen as bond is exactly what Sean Connery brought to the role when he was bond with intensity some what believable character.

@Mime, re-read Supes comment for my opinion. Lol.
@Sly, agreed on all counts. I think Craig should stop as soon as Quantum is shut down. I mean, his story arc has been revolving around it since, and it should end when the arc ends. So 6 movies? I don't know. I'd be satisfied with two more. :)

@JAO: lolz. "Indeed always write you ideas down on paper." By adding the word "indeed" it sounds as if you're iterating a point that's been stated over and over to the same person who doesn't seem to be getting it, but has that mental state where they just don't get it, thus instead of an angry response, it's a reiterating one. haha.

I've enjoyed reading @Sly's reasonings and ideas, and agree with her. I get what she means with letting a certain actor portray Bond in several movies, letting him really grow on the audience. When Brosnan came on the scene as Bond, he gave a heck of a performance. You could tell he really wanted people to like his interpretation, and for the most part, I think a lot of people did. Even when his movies started to get weary (Die Another Day), I was forgiving, because he WAS Bond to me at that time, after 3 previous outings.

@Ottley: That be an awesome spoof flick. "Shaft Bond: The Booze Is Not Enough" lolz. At least Craig will likely be back for #23 & #24. Hopefully #25 if lucky, #26 in a wtf fashion, and #27 in a 'Finally Moore's commitment has been matched' feeling. I got plenty of ideas of where Craig's story should go, and more importantly, which way the saga should go after he departs it if they wanna go back to making stand alone films. Or at least something with a theme, like international espionage or something less sixties in nature. IE-not the diabolical scheme with the secret base that's patrolled by dozens of guards of inexplicable origins with uzis whom are apparently in it for the money. That age is over. At least the 'Quantum' organizaion makes sense in that it's like a bunch of financiers in the world of corporate espionage which we've seen before in the real world to an extent. Jeez, I gotta get my ideas down on paper! ;)

Well, sometimes change is good, i agree with that, but sometimes the public dont want change, and well the public are the fans and the target auidence, and thats were the dollars lie.... Although it would a radical idea, i'll doubt it be something were ever see...
Unless in a rip-off to create a Black Bond, which more or less likely the route they'll take or in a spoof film.

Craig is signed for 4 films and he is returning to play Bond, and that there will be a gap between the Millenium trilogy somewhere.
And they are actually trying to continue the story, fingers thankfully crossed my treatment is chosen :)

@IUH: By "dramatically changed" do you mean #23 would have to be altered since the Daniel Craig flicks are directly related to each other? I agree he needs to do more than the three he signed on for.
@TheMime: No. Bond23 was on hold since MGM went bankrupt and there was a bidding war for the company. In the end, Sony will continue making the films with MGM distributing, and in several years when MGM gets fiscally back on track, they'll return to making the films themselves.

I'm sure somewhere down the line a black Bond will be acceptable, but I love Craig. If he's signed on for 1 or 2 more movies, then he will/should be given that chance.
All this is is some random black actor no one's heard of saying he'd like to play James Bond just to get his name spread around the web. Bond's a British secret agent. The storyline would have to be dramatically changed, and there's no point in doing that as long as the current Craig-era still has steam. After Craig's had his fill, maybe then they can shake things up...but when they do, they better find someone with actual acting talent to make it worth it.

You can change the Pecazzus ( or whatever the spell is) to black. You can plan to change peter parker to black. Hell, you can and have changed the president to black. That is all fine, hell, their the best step so far.
But a black james bond?.....These words might sound racist but that is not it..That's not The Mime's intend... The Mime is just wondering if this is the reason why james bond 23 was on hold?....??????

@Ottley: Doesn't matter that he tapped the source material. People still groaned about it when hearing which direction he'd be taking the character. For it's besides the point anyway, the point being that characteristics trump color. Connery was not just great for the acting, but for nailing down a persona everyone liked for 6 movies. Same with Moore for 7 movies, and Brosnan for 4. That helps a lot when they hang around. Hell, I'd rather have a brit of asian decent play him for numerous films over a new guy for every outing. :P
The naive idea people have that it won't work or be believable unless he's white is idiotic, and the iconic crap even more so. For Bond isn't tailored to a culture or ethnicity (to be british in style yes since the character is), just to a formula that's worked 22 times. I agree though that for these aforementioned reasons that the public probably won't be cool with such a "radical" (lolz) idea for years to come (maybe that's why MW chose Haye out of all for this seemingly faux story, so people would blast the concept for the right reason, being that he can't act).
@Narrator: I want DC to finish what he started too. I just hope we get a little bit more of a commitment from him than three films. More like 5 minimum. That's why Roger rocks! He was faithful to the character & franchise 7 times in a row. Connery for 5 then a 6th later, Brosnan for 4 as he expressed distaste for the role after #18, then Dalton for a measley 2 times, and Lazenby for a pathetic single outing. It should be required that they stay for at least 4. That way we get used to their personas and get to enjoy them too, rather than having them takeoff after such a brief stint. It's like "why Lazenby did you take on the role if it was for a single outing?" They were casting a whole new Bond for a new franchise afterall. Hence why they killed off Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Lazenby's flick. For they never knew they were gonna get Connery back for #7 and figured they might as well finish off Blofeld. Both Lazenby's departure and Connery's return were a surprise. Hence why they resurrected Blofeld from the predecessor to face off against Connery's Bond for a decent climax to the SPECTRE Saga, which belonged to Connery.
