In a story from The Wrap, during a recent interview with Sony Pictures Entertainment co-Chairman Amy Pascal they discussed director David Fincher's new film version of Stieg Larsson's novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to get an hard R
Pascal says that fans of both the movie and the book will be very satisfied with what the director does with the material.
"Oh, just wait and see. We're doing the book. That's why we hired David Fincher
. We're going to really do this, in all their glory. Otherwise why do it? They're very R-rated movies. It's the shock of what's really going on underneath the surface of society. If you don't actually make good on that, you haven't told the story.
Also, as there are three books in the series (the other two being "The Girl Who Played with Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest") the question arises of David Fincher lending his distinct vision to all three films.
"Yeah, I would like it. I'm hoping he will. And he's hoping he will." Pascal states.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was released December 21st, 2011 and stars Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Robin Wright, Stellan Skarsgård, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson, Yorick van Wageningen, Steven Berkoff. The film is directed by David Fincher.
