David Fincher wants a topless Rooney Mara for his poster
The photo features star Daniel Craig half-hidden behind his co-star Rooney Mara, who is naked from the waist up and looking directly into the camera. The pair star as Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander in this upcoming mystery, and the photo is said to be black and white, beautiful, and very artistic.
David Fincher doesn't believe he'll actually be allowed by the studio to use this photo for the poster as it now stands. It is possible, however, that he could turn this photo featuring a topless Rooney Mara into a viral poster only available on the internet.

@vacaslocas I doubt they need to entice people to see this. The books have such a huge following, there's no way this movie will not be a hit. The cheques practically write themselves, especially when they print on the posters/trailers: "from the director of Se7en, Zodiac, and The Social Network."

@Pjwolsker: I'm all for giving peeps chances to play roles but Noomi's "lisbeth" is an original classic. It's like saying brad pitt can play Han Solo instead of Harrison Ford. You can't compare. However, I will be seeing to the movie with an open mind, yet with Noomi on my mind haha

@Skywise: This isn't a remake. Its an American adaption so I wouldn't actually classify the Swedish films the "originals". I just thought I'd point that out...

I have not seen the originals nor have i read the novels but i am very interested to see this film as i am a pretty big Fincher fan. I guess i should go watch the originals at the very least.

@Narrator: I know Fincher won't disappoint so I'm stoked as well. As weird as she looks, she just doesn't feel like Lisbeth to me. BUT, we'll see once I see the movie..or at least when a trailer gets up. :p
@Diaigma: The poster...or the film itself?

Rooney has some VERY big shoes to fill after following in Noomi's place. This photo shows her looking sickly vs. some weird introvert.
I think Noomi should've played this character again (personally nobody could pull this off).

I never get stuff like this. Is there some significance to her being naked?

Don't know if I should be excited about this or not :P

Funny, I wanted the exact same poster.

Agreed Screeny. Craig is a f*cking fit. Mara, on the other hand, has yet to prove herself. And from the images released, they're really going over-board with her style and such. Rapace was never off putting for me, but every photo of Mara looks sickly and disturbed, like they want to make sure the audience gets how weird she is. Like we can't tell. Lol. But whatever, I'm so f*cking stoked for the film.

I'm still not thrilled about the casting choice of Lisbeth. Rooney Mara just doesn't feel right to me. Craig as Mikael is perfect though.

At least let it be a viral poster, if not the theatrical teaser poster. Fincher is a specific filmmaker and he almost always knows what he wants from his product. Let him have his way.
