David Fincher in talks to direct Fox's Gone Girl adaptation
The story centers on a woman who disappears without a trace on her fifth wedding anniversary, with her husband being sought as the prime suspect in the missing persons case. It isn't known if Reese Witherspoon will also star as the wife, or if she will only serve as a producer. Fox paid seven figures to acquire the novel, beating out Universal Pictures in a bidding war.
Bruna Papandrea is also producing for Pacific Standard alongside
Leslie Dixon. No screenwriter has been hired for the adaptation as of yet.
David Fincher is still attached to direct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for Disney. Sources indicate that the filmmaker may still direct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea next, and hold off on Gone Girl.
Gone Girl comes to theaters in 2014. The film is directed by David Fincher.

@thedude-abides Right, in my opinion he should do the 2 sequels back to back first above all the other films

Nothing should come before "The Girl Who Played With Fire", and "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest". Nothing.

@bawnian-dexeus Definitely, man. Just keep hangin' around, and good things are bound to happen.

@thedude-abides Indeed. Fincher did the regular work like loading cameras and helping set scenes up. Cameron helped set designs and stuff. All I know is, once someone asks me to read a script and tell them if it should get a green light for production, I'm one step closer to my goals

@thedude-abides I would love to be a P.A. on any one of his next projects. I'll buy a crate just for the coffee XD

@bawnian-dexeus Hope so. I mean, those 5 films alone are a career in themselves. Most people would kill to direct any one of them, let alone every one of them. Plus, it would suck to see anyone else other than him return for the sequels.
@SherlockHolmes2009 Agreed. That'd be the most prudent move to make on his part, considering he plans to return for the sequels. It'd basically cut his work down from 5 films to 4.

@thedude-abides Indeed. Better that than ignoring the rest. His touch has to continue with the Dragon girl

@corey Yeah, I was thinkin' that too. But I'll be honest, I'm more intrigued by this and 20,000 Leagues, personally... Best case scenario, he does all three, along with The Goon and the subsequent Hornets Nest film. That would keep him busy for the next five-to-six years.

Hope he finds time for TGWPWF.

This is right down Fincher's alley. Hopefully he finds time to do both this and 20,000 Leagues.
