David Duchovny Speaks Out About a Third X-Files Film

Although the second film didn't exactly set fire to the box office, the star of a popular sci-fi film and TV series is ready for more. The Daily Beast recently chatted with The X-Files star David Duchovny, who revealed he would still be in for a third film that would follow last year's The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Here's a section of the site's article.

However, Duchovny looks forward to filming a third X-Files film in the near future. "As far as the X-Files movie I'd like to do next, if we get a chance to do it, would be a return to the heart and soul of the mythology, which is the alien-oriented conspiracy. I think it's natural for The X-Files to have another movie in 2012, so we'll see if we get to do it." He defends last year's widely panned The X-Files: I Want to Believe, as well as the polarizing last few seasons of the television run: "I was happy with it... I have nothing but respect for [X-Files creator] Chris Carter and the writing staff."

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new developments on a new X-Files film as soon as we have more information. In the meantime, you can Click Here! to read more of the site's piece with Duchovny.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe was released July 25th, 2008 and stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly, Xzibit, Mitch Pileggi, Callum Keith Rennie, Adam Godley. The film is directed by Chris Carter.

Interesting timing with this! Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully herself), Mitch Pileggi (Skinner!), Frank Spotnitz (writer/exec producer) and Rob Bowman (director for the series and the first film) are all doing an X-Files Q&A for charity in Beverly Hills on November 14. Someone needs to ask them about X-Files 3! Ticket info is here: http://www.ibginc.org/tickets

Cripple, Mulder DID find his sister, or rather, what happened to her. Go back and watch the episode "Closure" from the Seventh Season, you will see that the Samantha story arc plot thread had been closed. Just as every plot thread in The X-Files except the December 22, 2012 plot thread: the final alien invasion for colonization.

    Enter X-Files 3.

The second one was proof that there is no God. It was absolute sh*t. I wish they wouldn't make another and just let it die, but if they do, they better go with the alien conspiracy and talk about Fox finding his sister

Speculation. Duchovny said this a year ago, before XF2 even came out. I'd like to hear Carter or Spotnitz tell us some sh*t about an XF3, or even Gillian Anderson, since she has been rumored to not want to do XF2 or any more X-Files ever.

The only reason XF2 bombed at the box office, is because those dipsh*ts released it against "The Dark Knight." ... Duh you f*cking idiots, of course it was going to flop then.

Anyways, I really hope XF3 gets made cuz it would be the CLOSURE FILM to the entire franchise. "The Truth" left it open, so now you have to close it Carter. plz do it...
