David Duchovny is joining the cast of the drama, Things We Lost in the Fire for DreamWorks.

The film already stars Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro as a woman (Berry) whose husband (Duchovny) suddenly dies. The Hollywood Reporter adds the woman invites her husband's troubled best friend (Del Toro) to live with her family, and as the friend turns his life around, he helps the grief-stricken family confront their loss; Duchovny will appear in flashbacks.

Susanne Bier is set to direct the Allan Loeb-written script; Things We Lost in the Fire is scheduled to start filming next month.
