Darren Aronofsky Eyes Russell Crowe for Noah Remake

Darren Aronofsky eyes Russell Crowe for Noah
Darren Aronofsky is looking to bring Russell Crowe onto the arc for his biblical reboot of the classic, Noah.

The original story follows Noah, as God sees the wickedness of man and is grieved by his creation, resolving to send a great flood to cleanse the Earth. However, he sees that Noah is a man "righteous in his generation," and gives him detailed instructions on how to construct a seaworthy ark. When Noah and the animals are safe on board, God sends the Flood, which rises until all the mountains are covered and all life on Earth is destroyed. At the height of the flood, the ark rests on mountaintops, before the waters recede and dry land reappears. Noah, his family, and the animals leave the ark to repopulate the Earth. God places a symbolic rainbow in the sky and makes a covenant with Noah and all living things, by which he vows to never again send a flood to destroy the Earth.

No deals have been made, but the director is aspiring to bring on the Oscar-winning actor to play the title role in the New Regency/Paramount film. He is also eyeing Liam Neeson for another undetermined role as well.

John Logan rewrote the script by Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel with the director and Scott Franklin producing with Mary Parent.

The project is still in development.

Noah is in development . The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky.

    ...moral evil? Lol.

@ejk1, Gandhi said something along those lines. He claimed that he would be a christian, were it not for christian's. As a christian, I can definitely see where he's coming from. Religion is a pretentious and repetitious joke. Spirituality and relationship are all that matters, and all we should be concerned about.

On topic, this is pretty cool news. And I am nearly 100% sure that the film is about the graphic novel he worked on, and not some "remake" or "reboot" as this article suggests.

Interesting in theory, at the very least. But we have seen great casts go to waste in the past. Plus, I'm still unclear as to how Aronofsky is going about this--is it taken from the Bible, or his graphic novel?
