Darko Entertainment Acquires Fade

In a story from Variety, Darko Entertainment has picked up the rights to the novel Fade by the late Robert Cormier.

Adam Prince will be writing the screenplay.

The story is set in the summer of 1938, and it follows a young boy who has the power to make himself invisible. He soon discovers that this power has been in his family for generations.

The book was originally published in 1988 and at one point Steven Spielberg was going to turn it into a movie.

"No one has been able to crack this story," stated Darko producer Richard Kelly.

Why set in 1938? IMO it would be better set in the present instead of the past.
