DreamWorks picks up Darkfever franchise
There are five books in the series, and with them, DreamWorks hopes to launch its own fantasy franchise in line with The Hunger Games and Twilight.
The story follows MacKayla Lane, an ordinary woman who travels from Georgia to Ireland in hopes of finding her sister's killer. There, she falls into a fantastical world filled with ancient magic and mythical creatures. In this newly discovered realm, MacKalya is tasked with finding a book that could save both the real world and this new land she has come to inhabit.
Darkfever is being envisioned as a live-action fantasy. No production start date has been set.

Cirque Du Freak should've been dark like the books. I would've preferred that they made it into a weekly cable series instead of a movie.

Young adult novel series? No, it's not. I'm reading the last installment of the Fever series now. Ugh, they're going to ruin it like they did for the Cirque Du Freak series (although that was a young adult series, it shouldn't have been made into a family friendly comedy).

Hmm.. so when they say they want it to be in line with Hunger Games and Twilight, they mean to say it will cut with a dull blade, and it's target audience will be teenage girls? Or just popularity-wise? Or both?
