It was originally believed that Live Schrieber was slated to play the younger William Stryker in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but news was later released that Schrieber would instead be playing Sabretooth. Now, thanks to a report on JoBlo, it seems that Danny Huston has landed the role of Stryker.

If true, Huston is an excellent choice to play the younger version of the military scientist responsible for the transformation of Logan into the killing machine Wolverine, a role originated by Bryan Cox in X2: X-Men United.

Now that the film has gone into production, keep watching MovieWeb and SuperheroFlix for more news about the casting of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, including which fan-favorite characters may be slated to make an appearance.

UPDATE: Thanks to our friends at IESB.net, we also now know that Lynn Collins has been cast as Silver Fox, Wolverine's love interest and fellow member of the Team X project. Collins beats out Maggie Q and Michelle Monaghan for the role.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine explores Wolverine's early days, before joining the X-Men. The film will cover Logan's early life, and his involvement with the mysterious Weapon X program. The film stars Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine and Liev Shrieber as Creed/Sabretooth. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is due to arrive in theatres in 2009.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was released May 1st, 2009 and stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Will i Am, Lynn Collins, Kevin Durand, Dominic Monaghan, Taylor Kitsch. The film is directed by Gavin Hood.
