Danny Boyle Has 127 Hours
Boyle will be directing this film which should go into production in late 2010. At present the director has written a treatment, and writer Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) is in talks to write the script.
Part of Ralston's story is that his right forearm was pinned for nearly five days under a boulder while on a climb in Utah in May 2003. At this point he used a dull knife to amputate the limb, and then scaled a 65-foot sheer wall and hiked out before running into a family that provided him with water and food. Eventually he was rescued by helicopter.
Currently, Boyle is trying to cast the part of Ralston.

If Boyle sticks to telling the story in the same framework as Slumdog Millionaire, this could be a good movie with a lot of depth. Start it out with Ralston running into the family without an arm. Flashback to him starting his climb and getting stuck, then have Ralston reflect on the important aspects of his life. At that point the sky is the limit for a great story.

Err
i don't know if a tale about a guy who was dumb enough to go mountain climbing without telling anyone where he was going is something i'm interested in seeing.
i remember when this story was on the news, and i thought to myself
"i wonder what's on the other channels".
