Daniel Craig to Return in James Bond 23?

Jeffrey Wright hopes to reunite with Daniel Craig in James Bond 23
Jeffrey Wright hopes to reunite with Daniel Craig in James Bond 23
MGM announced earlier this month that it plans to have James Bond 23 in theaters by November of 2012, with a brand new 007 adventure coming every other year after that. Since this news broke, there has been much speculation about Daniel Craig's return to the franchise. As he is booked to appear in all three chapters of The Millinium Trilogy for the foreseeable future, the first of which, titled The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, is now in production. It is unclear if Craig will take a break sometime between these three movies to lens James Bond 23, or if he will depart from the series altogether.

Craig is still signed onto play Bond in at least three more 007 adventures. But because of MGM's financial troubles, the actor may not be able to abide by his contract. It is quite possible that MGM will hire a new, perhaps younger, James Bond for the next installment, and then have Craig return in subsequent sequels. Co-star Jeffrey Wright, who has played American CIA agent and friend of Bond Felix Leiter in both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, doesn't feel that is the case, though. When asked if the two actors would be reuniting on the set of James Bond 23, Wright had this to say (via MI6):

"Things seem to be moving in the right direction, although sideways at times. It seems to be heading toward some resolution."

We'll be sure to keep you updated as James Bond 23 moves closer to production, especially if and when Daniel Craig's return is made official.

Skyfall was released November 9th, 2012 and stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Bérénice Marlohe, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw. The film is directed by Sam Mendes.

    @Pjwolsker I totally agree with your Bond list! Only, I think I would put Dalton a little higher and Brosman a little lower. I agree with your Lazenby ranking, he was the worst out of them all, by a long shot!

    clive owen would make a good bond. bale would too but hed never accept it. he's already played two iconic characters.. batman and john conner. most actors dont do that many

  14. Cartman

    @Pjwolsker - I stand beside you with the same fav list,... Daniel Craig is the toughest looking bond who actually gets hurt in the movie(which makes it believable), unlike other bonds who go and take down an entire army, yet their lipstick or hairstyle is not even disturbed a bit,....

    @J_A_OTTLEY That's what a reboot is: it completely ignores all previous films and starts its own universe, fresh and squeaky-clean, something that the Bond series has needed for decades.

  20. slysnide

    @JAO & @CBF: I agree that "QoS" was lackluster, despite that the plot was more complex. Hence they could easily have fleshed out a good Bond movie, but instead chose to tell the story through overrated action sequences to apparently please the fans who missed it from "Casino "Royale." I just hope #23 doesn't suffer the same fate as "QoS."

    Well that sucks, never actually acknowledged that, and now i'm like WTF, why is Judi Dench playing M then lol.....,. She's been M since Goldeneye but a new universe started with Royale.

    Open the door, close the door, I am soooooooooo confused :D

  23. CBF

    @J_A
    Yeah, lol. Except that they can't make a connection. They already established the new universe being post-9/11 and a woman as the second M. This is a new timeline and there's no way to connect it. Which is fine, by all means, but they cannot connect it at this point.

    @CBF
    I know, that's kind of what i meant by it being completely messed up and odd, lol... They definately need to make a connection though

  25. CBF

    @J_A Yes, "Casino Royale" is MEANT to be before "Dr. No," but it isn't. As I said, it has no connection with those films.

    @Narrator I agree. The only thing I am saying on that is that I hope it is good and not bad like the previous film.

    @Narrator
    I agree with your 1st paragraph, it wouldn't swing.

    And well your 2nd paragraph is what Craig wants to do, he wants to go straight into doing Bond 23 straight after finishing The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo, while The Girl That Played With Fire is in pre-production stage and then after Bond 23 go straight into The Girl That Played With Fire so it doesn't disrupt the timeline of both franchises.

    Which is probably why Bond 23 will be fast-tracked quick

    Also what i noticed is how Casino Royale & Quantum of Solace in terms on context/content and action are the oppositions of each other.

    Casino Royale = Good plot & character development but with few action sequences.
    &
    QOS = Thin plot and character development but bombarded with action sequences

    Favorite Bond films?
    Casino Royale, Goldeneye, Dr. No, Goldfinger. :P

    @CBF and @JA. I know that the last one was disappointing, but they really need to finish up the Quantum storyline, and then (if need be), Craig can move on. Refer to my last comment for how I feel on the matter.
