Daniel Craig talked about David Fincher's upcoming The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with Esquire and had this to say about the crime thriller:

"It's as adult as you can possibly make it. This is adult drama," he said. "I grew up, as we f*cking all did, watching The Godfather and that, movies that were made for adults. And this is a $100 million R-rated movie. Nobody makes those anymore. And Fincher, he's not holding back. They've given him free rein. He showed me some scenes recently, and my hand was over my mouth, going, Are you f*cking serious?"

"It's not that he simply showed me footage that was horribly graphic. It was stuff that was happening, or had happened. And somehow you don't see it... There's more than one way to sense violence... Much more powerful ways than seeing it step-by-step."

Thank you Mr. Fincher for not selling out. Like Aronofsky, the mans got a clear vision for making movies and doesn't give a f*ck about what people think, can't wait to see this.

I enjoyed the original so much I won't rush out to see this version in the theater but will surely check it out on Netflix once available.

Intriguing that's for sure. I trust Fincher in believing that he's not exploiting this.

...some people may be in for a surprise how graphic this movie could be. If you are in the dark about the books or haven't seen Oplev's version from only 2 years (still annoyed on such a quick turn around) This will definitely shock some people who don't know what they are geting in for...

@narrator Naturally. One of Del Toro's best, the strongest entry in that series, and vampire violence done right.

Though I find it a sad commentary that Craig has to say the things he did concerning this film, as the movie selection process *should* be friendlier to the adult only crowd, I'm glad to hear this won't be for sensitive pussies. The 70's, 80's, and 90's were richly populated with adult fare, it's only in the last decade or so we've seen a decline in quality R-rated movies, as studios opt for the safer, cash cow PG-13 crap, and political correctness runs rampant. I'd even be happier if comic book movies could be rated R again, as well, ala Blade series.
