Dan Milano to Write Short Circuit Remake

In a story from Variety, Dimension Films has picked Dan Milano to write the remake of the 1986 film Short Circuit.

In the original, an armed robot became "human" after being struck by lightning. It then enlisted the help of human beings when the military tried to "disassemble" it.

Dan Milano is known for writing and providing voice talent for the Adult Swim cartoon Robot Chicken. The original film was written by S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock.

"We're bringing Number 5 into the 21st Century and taking advantage of the improvements in robotics that are so massive that robots are now performing heart surgeries in hospitals," stated producer David Foster who made the original film.

He went on to say that the look of the robot will not change for this remake. He even commented on how similar the robot from Pixar's WALL-E looked to Number 5.

"We think of WALL-E as an extended trailer for our film, because it's the same face," Foster said.

Short Circuit comes to theaters in 2013. The film is directed by Tim Hill.

    ok i got it, i finally figured it out, First they rape the late 70's then brutally do it to the 80's classic. ok. Dumbasses. but i have to agree with illuminati once this is done hollywood's most idiotic and uselss directors and all the other morons will be out. hopefully for good. back to MTV videos and zit commercials *ssholes.

    well.this is my last time visiting this site.im tired of reading all these headlines about movie remakes.its really getting on my nerves.its a shame that hollywood has nothing better to do than make remakes of classics that theyll just f*ck up.get a god damn real idea and make it a and leave the f*cking classics alone you no talented hacks.

    You know i'm glad all these sh*tty remakes are coming out of the woodwork.
    It'll identify all the useless wastes of talent posing as directors/casting dir/agents/writers. And when they make these uninspiring sh*thole films, it'll again send ALL these hacks out of hollywood.
    It's an ethnic cleansing! It's a needed process to rid hollywood of these losers hiding under a rock.

    Both are great films. But if anything, Wall-E got almost %100 of it's design from Short Circuit. So what if it's a remake. Suck it up and keep on moving, life is to short to complain about everything.
