Dakota Fanning to Be in New Moon?

According to E! Online, it looks like Dakota Fanning is in talks to join the cast of the Twilight sequel New Moon.

There is nothing confirmed but she could be playing the role of Jane.

"There were no auditions," a source on the site says. "They just offered it to her outright, and now they're in negotiations. They've been going back and forth."

In fact there is currently an online petition from Twilight fans to have Fanning play the role. The petition tells Summit Entertainment that Fanning is "perfect" for the part.

New Moon is expected to start shooting this March. The plan is for it to be in theaters by November 20.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon was released November 20th, 2009 and stars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, Billy Burke, Ashley Greene, Anna Kendrick, Christian Serratos, Michael Welch. The film is directed by Chris Weitz.

    No offense err, but notice Twilight's target audience. It is pointed towards fluffy pop-culture teenage girls between the ages of 13 and 16. It just happened to become a major franchise. Like most good books, movies ruin them. I like the series, and the movie is okay, but it still isn't going to appeal to anyone who is sane and thinks like an adult. No, I'm not saying I think like a child I'm just stating I'm obviously insane. HA...I need to get a life.

    with all due respect, twilight is fluffy pop-culture bullsh*t, and not to be confused with what actually deserves to be referred to as "good". it might be "entertaining" but that's not the same thing.

    No offense killerman, but I disagree.

    I think that Dakota is a PERFECT choice for Jane. And no, Zynthos, Jane is about the same age as Dakota, if not a bit younger. This is going to be awesome.

    Although, I WILL be seeing "Let the Right One In," still. :)
