We also have the first poster for this documentary about a man who spent one month living off of only what he could find on CraigsList.
CLJ Films has released the first trailer and poster for Craigslist Joe, a new documentary from executive producer Zach Galifianakis. Director Joseph Garner, who served as a producer on Due Date and The Hangover Part II, spent a month living solely off whatever he could find from Craigslist ads, and the generosity of others. Take a look at new footage from this upcoming documentary.

In a time when America's economy and sense of community were crumbling, one guy left everything behind--to see if he could survive solely on the support of the 21st century's new town square: Craigslist. It was in this climate that 29-year-old Joseph Garner cut himself off from everyone he knew and everything he owned, to embark on a bold adventure. Armed with only a laptop, cell phone, toothbrush, and the clothes on his back--alongside the hope that community was not gone but just had shifted--Joseph began his journey. For 31 December days and nights, everything in his life would come from the Craigslist website. From transportation to food, from shelter to companionship, Joe would depend on the generosity of people who had never seen him and whose sole connection to him was a giant virtual swap meet. Would America help Joe? Could he survive with nothing, apart from the goodwill of others?

Craigslist Joe was released August 3rd, 2012 and stars Kristos Andrews, Joseph Garner, Gina Keatley, 357 Magnumm, Fran McGee, Tig Notaro, Travis Shivers. The film is directed by Joseph Garner.

    Looks very average.

    @bryanyentz@skywise -- I don't know about that. A year would be too long, but a month does seem kind of short. That's not the only issue, though. He's trying to see how genuinely generous people are, but he includes a visible cam into the mix. If he were to survive off a Craigslist for a longer time period, and had a hidden camera, that would've been something else entirely.

    @bryanyentz I was thinking the same thing. Now a YEAR would be impressive, but a month...thats just lazy.

    Two things that bug me a little about this:
    - More people will do nicer things in front of cameras than they would without them;
    - He's a fake homeless person taking stuff that could have been useful for someone that needs it more than he does.

    Other than that, it looks great.

    I don't know if this is real or not, but it's funny because I actually entertained the idea of doing something similar, except for New Zealand.
