Could Zac Efron Be Jonny Quest?

There may actually be some progress with the Jonny Quest film that Dwayne Johnson and director Andy Fickman have been looking at. According to what Zac Efron told Moviehole, Disney's current "it" boy may be getting ready to star in the film as well.

Efron said of the project "Yeah... it's a great idea; it'd be fun," before noting that the project would be ways off. "It's a long, long process. It's so hard when people start leaking titbits. They're very, very early on [with it] - not that it won't happen happen, it's just early." He went on to say that it was "most definitely" a couple of years away.

Jonny Quest first came to life as an animated series in the 1960s, where 11-year old Jonny and his friend Hadji accompanied his father, Dr. Benton Quest on a series of fantastic adventures. Also accompanying the Quest family was special agent/bodyguard Race Bannon, who would most likely be portrayed by Dwayne Johnson in the film.

    New- johnny quest movie concept is all wrong it is the movie version of the 4 door dodge charger - never was and should have never been and with the new johnny quest movie with Zac Efron is the same it should have been with characters just like the orginal hannah barbera cartoon not built around a hip - and to older actor but a better concept would have been as mentioned earlier like the orginal cartoon and with intelligents and the class of the way the orginal characters were written and not a movie built around Zac Efron. johnny should have been batween 11 and 13 years old for the first movie and no older. i have had this movie in my mind for at least 20 to 30 years and have alway wondered why it took so long for someone to think of it but then to botch it so badly shame on you hollywood ! Please consider my orginal idea time frame was many years ago so my actors are to old now but they were along the lines of - harrision ford as Benton Quest - Rutger Hauer as Race Bannon and then any good young actors who resemble the hannah barbera Johnny ,Hadji ,and Bandit and if the script was along the lines of the orginal cartoons it would guarantee-parents plus kids go to the movie plus actors grow older with audience in possible sequels , action figures, clothing line ,games , maybe a ride in an amusement theme park I hope you get the idea but the thing that must be built into the script is the fact that johnny and Hadji were not bad kids but they were smart ones who sometime got into trouble or help to solve a problem by depending on the smarts and the team bravado that was important in the Quest team .     yeah u bring up a good point, don't apologize for saying something u type, just don't type it or have the balls to say it. an apology for something that is typed and so easy to make disappear b4 anyone sees it is pretty meaningless.

    oh and ur so wrong on the Nick Fury thing, firstly he was in the movie for like 10 seconds how can u even call that terrible when he didn't get a chance to even prove whether he can or can't act the part. and secondly like dude below me said Fury is black in the Ultimate Marvel Universe, so they didn't really change anything for Iron Man.

    hey cypher sounds like ur gay 4 ol'zac lmao and as far as a BLACK Nick Fury get over it they changed his "skin color" in the comic books 2 so Nick Fury is black sorry, so take ur sorry about the skin color comment and eat it cuz if u were really sorry u would'nt mention it...let me guess you didnt vote 4 obama but not cuase of his "skin color" right....

    Zac looks and sounds like Johnny, i think this is a win win for fans and for Zac... although Zac obviously couldn't play an 11-year old johnny quest... he could play a more older sophisticated teenage version. As long as they include the technological aspects of the series over the indiana jones crap, i'll be happy. Dwayne Johnson needs to cut the crap out of his career, he won't do well in this film, nor will be play Race to a great extent... his fame as 'The Rock' has forever doomed his film career, maybe he needs to focus on roles that take into aspect his skin color and attitude. Race was more cool, calm, collective... Dwayne hasn't been able to pull any of those things off in the past before. Apologies to those insulted by the skin color, but i'm sick to death of racial mismatch among characters and actors in pop-culture based films. Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury was just terrible... a black nick fury? No no no... that just isn't right.

    as a guy who comes to this site, i actually have no beef with Efron, just the movies he has been in so far. i mean he played the younger version of the doctor from Firefly in one episode, so he hasn't done all bad stuff.

    i think this could actually be his way to start being taken seriously by the "fans like me" essentially, the fans who sort of see him as a douche write cuz of HSM1-3. i hope this happens a (i mean the movie) and i wouldn't mind if Efron played Quest, i think he fits the role.

    and just throwing this out there, but Heath Ledger was originally just a heart throb like Efron is now, look how great of an actor he turned out to be.

    I know the guys who come to this site are going to freak out but if you think about it, it is brilliant casting. Because lets face it, you're going to see it anyways, but instead of only appealing to fans, Zac will bring in LOADS of teen girl fans guaranteeing box office gold. So if he says yes, the film will make money. And I will see it.
