Two films with similar subject matter going into production at the same time is nothing new in Hollywood. But the latest news coming out of Pajiba might be very disturbing for Terry Gilliam, who has long tried and failed to get The Man Who Killed Don Quixote to the screen with legendary results. Some of which were chronicled in the acclaimed documentary Lost in La Mancha.

According to the website, Warner Brothers and producer Joel Silver are in the process of fast-tracking the Untitled Joel Silver Don Quixote Project, which will be an action-packed updating of the legend similar to last year's Sherlock Holmes, which Silver also produced. This comes hot on the heels of news that Terry Gilliam is once again attempting to finally direct his definitive version of The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.

While Terry is taking a more faithful approach to the material, Silver and company plan to turn the story on its head, creating something more akin to the Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl, with Quixote being a sane man in a fantasy world. While this project is in no way confirmed at this time, we will update you with any news that arises in the next couple of weeks.

    i'm not surprised he is still chasing this dream, someone should just throw some money at me and ill give half of it to terry to help him finish and then get a percentage of the profits and then i wont be hurting between paychecks anymore.

    Hollywood keeps remaking films that they allready remade at least 2 times, the only remake i would probably wan't to see it's Pinochio, not an animated film (unless it's made by Pixar)

    Oh that does suck, I was really hoping Mr Gilliam would do well with this, even with Mr Depp I think he could struggle with it being a hit if against a bigger action movie of the same story.
