It's a "Mexploitation" movie for crying out loud. Just like there was Blaxploitation cinema in the 70's. Of course there's race related content in it! It's a Grindhouse picture ok? If anyone has ever been familiar with Grindhouse Cinema you know these kinds of films don't play nice, they don't bow and cater to the needs and wants of the norm, and they always color outside the lines of your basic Hollywood, glossy, executive-driven films that are regularly pumped out. Grindhouse Cinema is Exploitation. Exploitation in fact EXPLOITS racial issues, sex, violence, drugs, etc. Basically whatever other filmmakers are afraid to touch. In the end it's just entertainment. Does it sometimes tread dangerous and "controversial" (whatever that means) ground?? Hell f*ckin yeah! Because in the words of what Rob Zombie told Bill Moseley, "Art Is Not Safe". Are these kinds of films made to be taken seriously? NO! So let it go people!

I just read a plot synopsis, and at least from that, the only thing offensive in this movie is the presence of Steven Segeal. This movie sounds a lot like Angelina Jolie's Salt, or any other movie of the spy genre. And even though the movie may resonate with some, it sounds kind of ridiculous. Machete is rallying the disenfranchised-in this case it's illegal immigrants. I remember Kevin Costner doing the same thing in Prince of Thieves, and Mel Gibson doing it again in Braveheart. In short, Rodriguez is doing nothing special here, just using a hot political topic in the hopes of garnering great media-interest in his movie.

XxPsychosisxX, you clearly haven't been listening to the people of Arizona, or the rest of the people in this country for that matter. That "border crossed us" line is foolish. Mexico is a big place, if you love it so much, live there.

Be very careful w/ what Alex Jones says. He is from TX. Has a mansion in TX. His opinions on illegal immigration always come off a little too "scared white man" for me. His whole shtick seems to be penetrating the minds of insecure, weak minded peeps and making them into babbling incoherent messes of themselves. Trust me. I used to be one. Then I heard William Cooper roast this guy on his radio show b4 Cooper died and my opinions changed dramatically about AJ.
AJ will bring some good facts every once in a while, but keep in mind this is TABLOID CONSPIRACY fodder. Dude just wants ad revenue and profits.
Do your own research. A lot of peeps have put decent info on the web. Soak it up, and then go back to AJ w/ a cynical eye. You've been warned.

it took this long for a white man to discuss this problem as far as i see it this aint the land of the free u know how much it takes for a immagrant to deal with all the racial people everytime the leave there house. All we want is to live a better life but arizona is just putting out that all mexicans are killers and drug dealers and that we should go back to the border.THE TRUTH IS THE BORDER CROSSED US AND U ARE TRASSPASSING.IF ALEX JONES THINKS THERES GOING TO BE A RACE WAR HE BETTER PRAY TO GOD THAT HE IS WRONG.(Divided States Of America)

I forgot to ad... I do think alex jones makes some good points in his show but i can't help be put off by it when he starts advertising videos and t-shirts, if someone feels so strongly about an injustice they will speak with passion anywhere anytime without requesting you buy some dvd's..lol.

I think alex jones, speaks some truth, but is a little over dramatic about it so the truth of the seriousness of the matter is somewhere in between if your looking at this logically. I think there will be more of a problem if the film is banned or a big deal is made out of it, which is already happening by the looks of it. freedom of speech is important because if somebody has something to get off their chest and is restricted from doing so or dissmised, then their emotions can boil over. Looking at the history of america and how it came to be, it is natrual that the natives of this country will have some resentment toward this and may have something to say about it.

The Narrator: The Better Man
Well first off, no matter how stubborn you are, this guy has some very valid points. Quite a few actually. Does he blow this a bit out of proportion? Yes? Will this burn cities down? No. However, will it spark a few hardened feelings towards whites? To a few hundred people yea, and that is more than enough to start a few things. I mean there are many movies out there that portray acts similar to racism like it's for freedom and they are fine. However those movies are authentic, and just, such as Braveheart. Films like American History X and The Color Purple speak out against this type of stuff where as films like Machete usually garner more tedious behavior, and slight stereotypical racism follows.
Is this guy a bit of douche? Yeah, sorta. Does he care? Yeah. So although this won't lead to an uprising, and is at mostly a big hoopla, it just adds to the list of racial influence in todays entertainment. And believe me; the list it LONG.
Btw, @Brian, I find that offensive man. "This guy in the video is a jackass. Some points he makes are good, some are just bullsh*t hype around his own whiteboy puritanical Christian beliefs." Dude, I'm a Christian, and so are some of my friends and family. None of us are racist, unhappy with these types of movies, or uptight. I mean did he even mention he was Christian once in the video? I mean, damn thats a huge stereotype, and its more retarded than this guys video.
@CBF, I agree with a few of your posts, and sure this film is a negative, but this isn't the only film of its kind. Just a more blatant one. And I actually like Glenn Beck at times, so yeah. :P

Rodriguez is now labeling his Machete trailer a "fake" and excusing himself by calling it a "case of too much tequila". His pathetic and arrogant backpedaling was posted on Ain't it Cool News, the same site that originally released the illegal Machete trailer. What an ass.

You're right, CBF. I think the fact that people have no problem with the Arizona threat, the "border crossed us" scene, and the overall anti-American message is sad. There was a time in this country when people were actually offended by this kind of content. Now it's cool to dump on America. I hope something happens to stop this.

@djmacdaddy1 and @EvilWhiteMale are right. And you ignorant people need to stop comparing Alex Jones to Glenn Beck. Glenn Beck is a media hack and Alex calls his ass out all the time, not to mention most of the others that won't report the real sh*t going on. Which is mainstream media. Alex Jones is actually exposing the truth to most of this sh*t, he told us the Christmas bomber was staged on the day it came out. Now we know it obviously was staged. He warned us about 9/11 before it happened. He told us Swine Flu was a hoax and not to get the vaccine. Most people didn't get the vaccine. Love him or hate him, but you gotta give him respect for trying to spread awareness. He may be a little over the top and exaggerative at times, and maybe this film won't spark a race war, we can't predict the future, but it has happened before, and he is just getting the concerns out there. This film is racism. Especially saying its to Arizona right after they passed that bill that allowed racial profiling, and then showing the trailer where the Mexicans are slaughtering Americans. I mean come on, you know? That crossed the line. If you pause the video on all the cited articles and see what they are about, Alex's claims are backed up.
BTW "The border crossed us" - what the hell does that mean? Illegal immigrants have no rights.

@War-Machine what are you talking about? The creators of this film did not start this controversy. It's the content of the film itself, being a pretty much borderline racist film.

Alex Jones is the man. He is dead-on with everything he says, and provides proof to back everything up. He has been calling Rodriguez and this film out for weeks, since the Cinco de Mayo trailer aimed at Arizona came out and the studio took it down days later. Also since two Hispanics from the crew came out against the film because they were worried about the repercussions. A leaked script confirms these worries. Alex Jones has read this script. This is the main reason he is taking action against it. Chances are if its such a big deal, the studio will prompt Rodriguez to change things in the movie for the final version.
"Is he crazy? Is this the lunatic ramblings of an insane man? Or is Alex Jones being paid to promote the film with a bit of old fashion Grindhouse flare?"
MovieWeb, you are completely ignorant about Alex Jones and Infowars/Prison Planet. Alex doesn't give a fvck about this movie. Have you even visited his websites or listened to his radio show? He has a huge audience and its not based off promoting movies.

Yes, it very well could. I was telling some people about this a few weeks ago, everyone thought I was crazy. Even though it was all over the web. But -oh look!- MovieWeb has said it now, too. Told you!
BTW, to those of you who have never heard of a movie causing this much trouble, look up Birth of A Nation. This kind of thing has happened before, and it could happen again.

I think it is a load of crap, but if you do think about it,,,. Alex did say it was a message to the state of Arizona. And the movie is about a mexican killing alot of people for injustices to him. So a crazy person could look into the mirror and see crazy stuff with all that.
