Could Avatar Be the First of a Trilogy?

It seems there could be a whole series coming out of a future blockbuster. Collider spoke with actor Laz Alonso who revealed that the upcoming film Avatar could be the first part of a trilogy of films.

The script was so guarded under lock and key that he is sworn to secrecy on plot, but he did let it slip that he was glad "to have the opportunity to be a part of this trilogy".

He also revealed that some of the scenes of the film were, "filmed by 197 cameras, simultaneously, in real time."

We'll certainly keep you posted on any other news regarding this upcoming film, but you can Click Here! to read the rest of the site's interview with Alonso. Avatar is set for release on December 18.

Avatar was released December 18th, 2009 and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Joel Moore, Giovanni Ribisi, Michelle Rodriguez, Laz Alonso. The film is directed by James Cameron.

I can't remember if I read it here or somewhere else, but apparently this journalist got to see some footage for Avatar and he was like "I know that this thing can't be real, because there are no such thing as 9 foot tall blue aliens, but it looks so real that I can't tell otherwise". Can't wait to see if it really looks that good.

It sounds like it will be insane. James Cameron is one of my favorite directors, but I dont know anything about this movie other than the $300 million budget and Sam Worthington is in it and that they are using new and improved highly advanced special effects. There better be something extremely special about this for making everybody so curious and wait so long. But for now, this has blockbuster written all over it

Seriously cool. I'm sure they'll sink some advertising money into it when the film is finished, hype the hell out of it.

LOL this is really old...i'm talking like 2 / 3yrs old if you've followed Avatar...Cameron has already written scripts for Avatar 2 & 3, and say it will only be a trilogy if its a success, but he also stated that Avatar also workjs as a standalone film.

But plz no Avatar trilogy i want Battle Angel Alita...

You guys do know this is gonna be like the first full-length 3D Sci-Fi Action Film...

I don't know about this, I've heard some amazing things about this movie, but it cost so much money and so many people don't know about it. I'm really afraid it's going to flop. Cameron has been really fortunate in the past with his movies being super expensive and them making that money back, but I don't think thats gonna happen this time.

Man, when movies spend this long building up and expectations get so high - I get nervous...I like Cameron, he's done some remarkable things in the past...but you have to admit that if it's not incredible it will be rubbish - no middle ground for this movie
