Another 80s icon has passed away this morning. Former teen star and recovering drug addict Corey Haim was found dead in his mother's apartment due to what appeared to be an accidental prescription drug overdose. Haim was pronounced dead at 2:15 am at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California.

According to TMZ, Corey had been very sick these past few days with flu like symptoms. Though none of the prescription bottles that were found around his collapsed body were related to the illness. It is being reported that Haim crawled out of bed at 1 am and fell to the floor in front of his mother. She quickly called 911, and the actor was taken to the hospital. Law enforcement on the scene stated that there were no illicit drugs found in the Burbank apartment.

Haim had been struggling with a prescription drug problem for years. Some of that battle was captured on the A&E program The Two Coreys, which was cancelled shortly after its second season with Corey's longtime co-star Corey Feldman refusing to work with the actor until he sought professional help. Feldman and Haim were a longtime on-screen duo, appearing in such classic 80s films as The Lost Boys and License to Drive.

I always see that the stars die from an overdose of prescription drugs. Is it not time that someone looks into these drugs to see why so many people die from an overdose. If a person has a drug problem, try and help them in a different way when they get sick. This is a real shame. RIP C. Haim

Well said! I tip my hat to that one.

Another good actor taken down too young by the demons of temptation.

    First off, this totally sux!

Second, no one who knew of him in recent years can say that they didn't see it coming, but, that doesn't in anyway take away from the fact that he was a Very talented actor & put up a great fight against his drug addictions for years, having cleaned up his act (losing weight, trying to get sober as doc*mented on the "Two Coreys" reality show). So, let's have some respect for Mr. Haim, the recently departed.

If anyone doubts his acting talents, check out his breakout starring performance in the affecting "Lucas," playing an outcast trying to fit in his school & keep the girl he loves as the growing pains of life sprout. And, of course, his more notable movie work in the classic, 80s vampire movie, "The Lost Boys," "Dream a Little Dream" & "License to Drive."

He had recently staged a comeback with a small role in "Crash 2" & to appear in Lost Boys3. The the 'ol saying goes, don't judge someone unless you've walked a mile in their shoes. R.I.P. Corey Haim.

Sucks this happend, but the over dose thing is not what is being reported. As is seams he had 4 drugs in his house, but was presribed to him, and non was a pain pill. He was sick or several days and thought to have had the flu. This could be a case of body given out on a bad sickness due to hie "past" abuse issues. He has said he will always slip in the furture due to his past useage, but as of now, he was clean from doing anything.

  29. slysnide

He told Larry King in a 2007 interview that he'd be a "chronic relapser for the rest of my life." Given his lack of roles in the '90s, and only notable work in the '80s, then for him to survive his addiction for two decades is astonishing, given how much of a drug addicted trainwreck he appeared to be on the A&E show "The Two Coreys" back in summer 2008; his addiction being responsible for the cancellation of the show, and Feldman's severing ties with him. On that note, it'd be interesting to hear Feldman's response to this, given that he seemed very disconnected with Haim on the short lived July '07-July '08 reality show. RIP all the same.
