Fans, family, and friends alike lost a cherished personality in former teen icon Corey Haim, who died of an alleged prescription drug overdose earlier today. The actor, who made his big screen debut in the 1984 thriller First Born became quite popular in the 1980s, starring in a string of hit films that are now considered classics. During that run, he often teamed up with fellow actor Corey Feldman, and the two became inseparable both on and off the screen. They appeared as a comedy duo in The Lost Boys, License to Drive, and Dream a Little Dream, as well the recent A&E reality program The Two Coreys. Despite a falling out after the end of season two, Feldman and Haim had reconciled their differences at the time of Michael Jackson's death, who happened to be another close friend of Feldman's that had passed away.

Today, Corey Feldman, courtesy of his own personal blog released this statement about his one-time acting partner and best friend:

I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren't even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face. I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans, and of course my son who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school. This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend. We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference. Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived. ~ Corey


The Lost Boys was released July 31st, 1987 and stars Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Dianne Wiest, Barnard Hughes, Edward Herrmann, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman. The film is directed by Joel Schumacher.

License to Drive was released July 6th, 1988 and stars Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Carol Kane, Richard Masur, Heather Graham, Michael Manasseri, Harvey Miller, Michael A. Nickles. The film is directed by Greg Beeman.

Dream a Little Dream was released March 3rd, 1989 and stars Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Jason Robards, Piper Laurie, Harry Dean Stanton, Meredith Salenger, William McNamara, Ria Pavia. The film is directed by Marc Rocco.

    i grew up watching his movies lost boys, license to drive, lucas hell silver bullet were all 80's classics i even liked watchers its a shame ,i thought he was getting his sh*t together was nice seeing him in crank 2 even if it was a small role ,he was working , damn wont be the same without the corey haim around a little bit of me died today rest in peace mate ,,,
