Cashing in on all the Twilight hype is Warner Brothers' second sequel Lost Boys 3: The Thirst. According to Bloody Disgusting, Dario Piana, best known for his film The Deaths of Ian Stone, is gearing up to direct a third film in this popular vampire saga. The best news is that Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander will be reprising their roles as Edgar and Alan Frog, world-class vampire hunters and surfboard shapers.

Apparently taking a cue from all of the Lost Boys: The Tribe reviews, Piana will this time focus the film solely on the plight of the hugely popular Frog Brothers. The storyline will attempt to cash in on the hoopla surrounding Stephanie Meyers and her novel series Twilight. The synopsis has been described as such:
"When veteran vampire hunter Edgar Frog finds himself destitute and almost friendless, he thinks his life has hit bottom. But wealthy vampire-romance novelist Gwen Liebling offers him a small fortune to go on the vampire hunt of a lifetime and rescue her son Peter from the Alpha Vampire D.J. Dusk. With the help of his friends Zoe, Lars and Blake, Edgar heads into a bloody battle to exterminate all evil."

The film is set to begin filming this November in South Africa. As per Corey Feldman's own blog, he and actor Corey Haim, whom he starred with in the original film The Lost Boys, have reconciled their differences in the wake of Michael Jackson's untimely passing. Feldman stated, "Haim and I finally spoke for the first time in over a year. He called to make a truce. For the record, there was never an issue worthy of trucing. This has been vastly demonsterised in the press, but the TRUTH is....I still love the guy, I still care about him, we are just very different people now and I honestly feel sad that it has gone this way. But who knows...Maybe one day we'll find our way toward working together again."

So it's still possible that Haim could still be a part of this third film. Lost Boys 3: The Thirst will be released in late 2010. It will most likely go direct to DVD, but there is still a slim chance that it will hit select theaters.

Lost Boys: The Thirst was released October 12th, 2010 and stars Corey Feldman, Jamison Newlander, Tanit Phoenix, Sean Cameron Michael, Matthew Dylan Roberts, Joe Vaz, Seb Castang, Matthew Kalil. The film is directed by Dario Piana.

I liked The Goonies when I was a kid that comes to mind every time I remember the two get together.
Lost Boys 2 wasn't meant to explain a few things since they wanted to do the third film, just to tie up everything.
I wonder what happened to Chunky.

Yeah, it would be nice if Piana could explain what the hell Sam and Edgar were talking about at the end of part 2 and how Sam became a vampire. Also, was the vampire in the car at the end of the movie supposed to be his brother Allan? Part 2 wasn't bad but lacked some explanation and character history. Hope Piana meant what she said about taking a cue from part 2 reviews.

it would be nice to find out how the hell he became one in the first place and where was the second frog brother in part 2???? they mentioned him in the credits but never even showed him throughout the entire movie or even what happened to him?

They better put Haim in this and for more than 10 seconds like they did to him in The Tribe. They need the Frog Bros. & Sam to make this movie sell !!! Maybe Haim could be the lead Vampire since somehow he had became a vampire in part 2 which was weird as hell ..

Haim needs to forget about Lost Boys, and do a Silver Bullet 2, with Gary Busey. That's one of my favorite Haim movies. One of my favorite Steven King adaptations as well.

Most direct to DVD films are horrible, I just don't see the point in seeing something that is half c*cked or has little or no story.

just don't give us another crap fest like you did with part 2! if your gonna make a part 3 make sure you grasp our attention otherwise the only part that will ever be remembered is 1 which by the way still rocks today!!

I did like the second one, so I guess I'd watch a third. As long as Haim and Feldman are both in it, not just a Haim cameo like before.

wow. this is pointless. the second LB SUCKED ASS. it wasn't even a good MOVIE, much less a worthy sequel to the original LB. and now they want to make another one?? ugh..... now i have nothing against haim or feldman. nor am i against the idea of another LB being made but after the fiasco of the last one, we ALL know that this is going to suck.
words to the wise. get a REAL studio. hire a REAL director and get some REAL writers and a REAL story if you want to make a good LB sequel. if you cant do that then you should just hang it up and the rest of us will go back to pretending that LB2 never existed.

The idea is a bit shaky, I'll admit, but I didn't think I'd like "Lost Boys: The Tribe" any, and it was very surprising, so I'm definitely going to look forward to this with a little more enthusiasm than I was that...

I agree with Twisted Smile, but hey you gotta give them credit at least they admitted they are cashing in on the Twilight Craze.

I though the 3rd would be about Corey battling the evil inside of him when he gets bitten, kinda like well so Feldman said on verge of stylism between the original movie and Near Dark. But this one will pit the Frogs brothers against each other.

    I like that story better
