Synopsis:
From executive producer Ridley Scott (Gladiator) comes a film filled with "great action and terrific performances!" (Access Hollywood) Amidst the fighting of Medieval warlords, an English warrior (James Franco) and an Irish princess (Sophia Myles) become star-crossed lovers - a forbidden union that threatens to ignite a clash between their warring kingdoms. This sweeping saga of myth, fate and honor blazes with epic adventure.
Before Romeo and Juliet, there was Tristan & Isolde, a sweeping, epic romance that pits the unquenchable fires of passion against inescapable duty to king and country. Debuting on DVD April 25 from Fox Home Entertainment, Tristan & Isolde tells the rich and tragic Celtic legend of doomed lovers, set in the mysterious Dark Ages between the fall of the Roman Empire and the birth of the Renaissance, predating even the classic myth of Camelot's Arthur and Guinevere.
From executive producers Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven) and Tony Scott (Domino, Man On Fire), the tale is brought to life by director Kevin Reynolds (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, The Count Of Monte Cristo) and stars James Franco (Spider-Man), Sophia Myles (Underworld) and Rufus Sewell (Legend Of Zorro, A Knight's Tale) as the tragic players in a fated love triangle.
Presented in both widescreen and pan and scan versions, the Tristan & IsoldeDVD features a commentary by Executive Producer Jim Lemley and Writer Dean Georgaris, a making-of featurette, an image gallery and the music video for Gavin de Graw's "We Belong Together."
Bringing the gripping legend to life with a powerful depiction of one of history's most mysterious periods, the Tristan & Isolde DVD will be available to own for the suggested retail price of $29.98 U.S./$43.48 Canada. Prebook is March 29, 2006.
