Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which Tributes? must fight with one another until one survivor remains.
Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
The Hunger Games was released March 23rd, 2012 and stars Stanley Tucci, Wes Bentley, Jennifer Lawrence, Willow Shields, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Sandra Ellis Lafferty, Paula Malcomson. The film is directed by Gary Ross.

I have read all 3 hunger games books so many times and it is definitely by far the best series I have ever read and to just be able to get a chance to go to the premiere is amazing and it would be even more amazing to meet the cast, go to L.A., and see the movie all in one day!

If I had the time and patience I could write 10 pages full of reasons why I believe I should receive the tickets to the premiere, but I am going to try to say this as simply and shortly as possible. My younger sister was the first one in my family to read the series, she was reading them with her class at school, and every single day she would come home and tell me how amazing they are and how much I was missing out on. So one day she borrowed the trilogy from a friend of hers, brought them home, and told me to read them. That very night, I started reading the first book, and as soon as I finished the first sentence, I could they were going to be as good as my sister kept telling me they were. I am hoping to be an author myself, so I just added Suzanne Collins to the list of authors who inspire me, and I ended up reading the entire first book in a day. I know I've found a good book when I can't put it down. Then I read the second book in a day, and the third. My dad, who is constantly busy with work, saw us watching the trailer for the movie on YouTube and asked us about it, so we told him what the story was about. He was very interested and told us he wanted to read the books, so he did, and he LOVED them. I had heard of the Hunger Games many times before all this, but never given them much thought, now I know that if you've heard of a book that many times, it has to be good! Now my entire family are Hunger Games fans, even my older sister and mom, who haven't read the books (yet!) But they know just as much about the story as the rest of us, we just talk about it that much. All I'm saying is that if Suzanne Collins hadn't written this trilogy, the world would be missing out on something fantastic and wonderful! Thank you for creating something so beautiful, and now I'm being given an opportunity to win a chance to meet the cast and see the Hunger Games world come to life on the big screen! The Hunger Games have come so far!

First and foremost, I would like to thank Suzanne Collins for creating such a unique world with relatable characters. Winning these tickets would mean the world to any Hunger Games Fan. I would love to win these tickets because I am really interested in how her words will resonate on screen. The actors in the trailer match the descriptions of the characters so perfectly, in my opinion, and I'm very excited to see how they portray them. The way Suzanne Collins' book is depicted through Cinematography, Make-up, Visual Effects, Costumes, and Set design are the things I'm anticipating the most! I could not put down these books.

I would LOVE to win these tickets because i stayed up until 6am every single day that i was reading these books, so now i would FREAK OUT to see this amazing story come alive, not only on the screen, but also alive alive with the real actors who played the epic characters, cause that way i would feel as if i was part of this story, part of this magic, part of these games :D

I deserve to go to the hunger games premiere because like most people I have never been to a world premiere and it's always been a dream of mine to go to one, and I never win anything :( I've been looking forward to this movie forever! I love the books I can say I am officially obsessed also I would take my best friend who I have been friends with since kindergarten. She is also a huge fan and has lusted over Josh Hutcherson since she was in 7th grade! And I know it would make her life if she could go and see this movie that is from one of her favorite books and know that her celeb crush since she was a kid is very very close. I think it would be amazing!(:

I adore the Hunger Games. I am obsessed. It's all I think about. At school, I relate everything to them! I love all the main actors of this movie. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Lenny Kravitz... they are all amazing! It would mean the world to me if I could go and see these people that I look up to (in real life) and see them portray characters of one of my most favorite things in the whole world. I want this so, so SO so SOO bad.

To live in a state of oppression is an existence worse than death because forced servitude is a demeaning and outdated practice. The people who comprise the twelve districts of Panem have been subjected to this form of existence for the past seventy-four years and this is made evident through the longevity of the Capitol's sinister Hunger Games. These sadistic, last teenager standing battle royals serve as a punishment and are yearly reminders to the districts for their insurrection. Adding insult to injury, the people of these districts are forced to watch the atrocities, teenagers killing other teenagers, on television, as the games are broadcasted throughout the nation.
The beauty of Suzanne Collins's The Hunger Games is that she does not gloss over complex issues such as slavery and reality television that plague this dystopian nation, which are the central reasons for my favoring of the book series. There are valuable morals and lessons to be learned by any and all who read the book and/or series.
To be a citizen in any one of Panem's twelve districts would indeed be a huge honor for me. Granted there are those districts, those closest in proximity to the Capitol, which receive special privileges that I would not consider being a part of. I automatically eliminated them from contention. Therefore, I selected, with absolutely no reservation, District Twelve as my home. The populace of twelve, peopled with the poorest and hungriest of individuals, recognize and celebrate genuine acts of bravery, supporting them with what may be deemed as a rebellious gesture by the Capitol, but has become its very own trademark. Indeed, it is this trademark that makes them one of the richest districts in Panem, of course in the figurative sense of the word.
When Katniss Everdeen, Collins's teenage heroine, selflessly volunteers to take her sister Primrose's place in the 74th annual Hunger Games, her fellow citizens celebrated her bravery by immediately bestowing her with the three finger salute during the ceremony. The salute itself is quite telling, for it screams of open defiance towards President Snow and the Capitol in regards to the cruelty of the Games.
Their adulation of Katniss is one marked by restraint because to openly cheer for her would be morbid, as everyone knows that the Capitol is forcibly sending this young woman to her possible death in the arena. Who would not like to experience this kind of love and support? It is this heartfelt restraint that most touched me in Collins's novel. Furthermore, Ms. Everdeen's steely resolve upon volunteering, for she refused to give the Capitol tears, was also a key factor in my selection of twelve as home base. They are strong-willed and their actions prove it.
The citizens of twelve do everything they can to stay alive even when the odds are not in their favor. They take care of their own, as evident when Katniss lost her father in the mine's explosion. The people gave what they could, which was not much, in order to ensure Katniss and her family's short term survival. And in doing so, they permitted "The Girl on Fire" to be borne, saving them from future years of oppression and cruel games.
I cannot help but admire the citizens of District Twelve, for the abovementioned reasons; it is truly the place that I would call home. Their morals, their behaviors, their restraint fits in with my personality.
The fact that Collins was able to create people that we could identify with is what endeared these books to me. I feel that I would be an appropriate recipient of the tickets because of my genuine love for the books. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I will totally love to win this movie tickets, first of all because of all the obvious reasons, I'm a huge fan and I love the books. But one of the reasons I love this books is because of the message it gives me. Starting with Peeta, the way he is, how he treats Katniss, it talks about true love, something we don't find so often today. There is also another kind of love, the one Katniss shows Prim, it made me realize how much I love my sister and as I read the book, I could feel the same feeling Katniss was having, the feeling of protecting her sister (because I had a rough time myself with my family). I guess what I love about this book its the message it gave me. It's hard to explain but I think it's clear to many of us. The world has problems and if we don't act to stop them, things can end up bad.
Anyway, Last but not least, I totally love Josh Hutcherson, he is amaaaaaazing. :)

I feel like I could write forever as to why I should be able to go to the premiere, but honestly, all I have to say is that I love the books. Literally. I've been real selfish with my books & haven't let anyone touch them because they're so precious to me. I love the storyline so much. I don't exaggerate when I say that I've read the books at least 50 times & I'm re-reading them again as we speak. They're the only books I find I can read again & again, with so much excitement, even though I know what's going to happen. These books are much more than just books. They're life.

I am completely in love with the novels, and am collecting anything that has to do with the series- magazines, memorbilia etc. Even writing this paragraph is exciting because I am able to have the opportunity to enter such an amazing contest!! I deserve this prize because I am a super-mega fan that admires the imagination expressed by authour Suzanne Collins, and will always remain a faithful fan to THG! to quote the words of Effie Trinket (modified in a way), "May the odds be ever in my favour!!"

The prizes must be mine not only because I'm a fan of the series, but because I know the story like the back of my hand. I know Katniss, girl on fire. Fiercely protective of her sister Prim. I know that she still hurts over the loss of her father but hates showing it. I know Peeta, the boy with the bread. I know his love for Katniss, blossomed from a burnt crust of bread on a freezing day. Blossomed from hope. I know District 12, the mining District. I know of those who live there, the miners with their raw knuckles and hunched shoulders. But mostly, I know The Hunger Games. I know that they are cold and unforgiving. I know the images that they leave behind, burned into the minds of past victors. I know all of these things, these people and places born from the imagination of the brilliant Suzanne Collins. As I said, I know Katniss Everdeen. Not as a tribute. Not as a lover. But as Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire.

I personally only read when I'm in the mood for it, so when my boyfriend told me to read the first book 'cuz he thought I might like it I wasn't too willing to read it, but once I started i couldn't stop & ended up reading all 3 in 4 weeks before he even started the second. Katniss' strength is so inspiring and the way she showed her love for her family by going up for Prim reminded me how my brother allowed himself to die in place for my other brother. This book is one of the most inspirational books i have ever read. Katniss, the girl on fire is so strong, but yet so sensitive. Peeta is so sweet and charming and will never give up on katniss until she finally realizes she loves him. Gale is Katniss's gorgeous best friend who upon realizing he loves katniss has to lose her to someone he knows he could never compete with. Panem is so different, yet so much the same as our world now, people dye their hair crazy colors and wear ridiculous clothes, and the hunger games are like reality tv, but so much more realistic. I would love to go to the hunger games premiere to see the amazing story come to life and see the emotion in katniss's eyes when her sister is chosen for the reaping. I would love to see the premiere :)

Hello my name is Britney :). Before i read The Hunger Games i was not big on reading. Like most teens my age the only reason i would read was to do class work, but thanks to my teacher Ms. Sanchez and The Hunger Games that all changed. The Hunger Games was an emotional, thrilling love story that kept me up all night reading. I literally read the book in less than a week which was a record for me. Petta's love for katniss is unforgettable and adorable. Katniss's strength is admirable. The book had me on my toes wanting more and more every time i read a new page. Which is why my mom's face was unforgettable when i voluntarily asked her to buy me Catching Fire. I could not believe the twist that came with Catching Fire. I just couldn't believe the impact a book could have on my life. I feel like im a different person now. Honestly i dont think of my self as a "FAN" of this book, or of this story reading because this changed my whole perspective in life and taught me that you have to fight for what is right and if you dont give up it will pay off in the long run. I would be honored to have to chance to watch this amazing story come to life along side the actors that bring Katniss, Petta, and the rest of the characters to life. One day i dream of becoming an actress so being there to me would be a taste of my future if i dont give up and work towards my dreams just as katniss did in the books :) thanks for your time. I'm a mega-fan of the Hunger Games because the story itself has genuinely moved me and changed me in so many different ways. Katniss Everdeen's world is not as far-fetched and unrealistic as some people may think it to be. Panem, the post-apocalyptic North America, is nothing if not an exaggerated reflection of our modern world. From the Capitol's crazy fashions and unnerving sources of entertainment to the Seam's hungry and seemingly tireless workers, the similarities between Panem and our world are nearly endless. And because of this reason, I've become motivated to take action whenever an issue surfaces that I'm positive I can help with. Katniss has become an inspiration to me; a role model even. She is not perfect, she's human--and that's what makes her easier to relate to. A teenager who's struggling to separate right from wrong and will do anything to protect the people she loves.

I would be so thrilled and blessed to win this for my 14 year old daughter. She was reading these books before anyone knew what they were. She has been through a lot these past few years. She has almost symptom free (not cured) due to a brain procedure called deep brain stimulation. She is blessed to be able to walk again. Everyone has their own reasons to why they should win the tickets and everyone has good stories to why they should win these tickets. The reason the Hunger Games are completely famous and everyone wants these tickets at this point is because everyone is jumping the band wagon only because Twilight and Harry Potter are over. How do you know the real Hunger Game Fans from the rest? Can you quote the whole book? Can you describe who your favorite character is and why? I feel like these tickets should be given to someone who has been a fan for a long time and still is. I didn't start reading this trilogy only because the movie is coming out, I'm not reading them because someone told me too. I read them because it caught my eye and it changed my life. All my friends know what a huge Hunger Games Fan I am, I mean ask me any question about the book and I can answer it in .5 seconds. Last week I went to Ariana Grande Concert and Josh Hutcherson was there. I nearly died. I was unable to get a picture with him because everyone was pushing and going crazy that security had to escort him out. He felt so bad for me because I was being patient and waiting my turn but ended up without a picture. And his is my favorite character. TEAM PEETA for life. In all honestly even if I tried to get my friends to help me win these tickets, they wouldn't because everyone wants these tickets and it's kind of every man for himself. This is my opportunity to win something I've always wanted since reading these books. I'm staying positive, but in all honestly whoever wins them please let be a huge fan not just someone who wants to go to the premiere to meet the stars.

I think I deserve to win tickets to The Hunger Games premiere because, those books have honestly changed my life. I have always grown up in a fairly nice neighborhood, always had a roof over my head, I was always fed very well, almost always got what I wanted, I've had a fairly good family life, and I've always taken all of that for granted. Even though I see stories on the news or see people on the street, I never fully felt guilt for what I had. The Hunger Games really opened my eyes to see how hard life could be and how different my life could be. Seeing Katniss supporting her family and trying to find food for her little sister and mom really made me question, "how can I be a better person?" And I sincerely mean that. Her determination to feed her family made me want to help feed others in need. Since finishing the book, I have been making a great effort to help feed the homeless. My father and I go to a church once a month and help feed a room of people in need a great dinner. This has improved my life so much. I get such an amazing feeling knowing that I'm helping someone not go hungry for a day or two. It puts a smile on their face and mine. My life would not have been the same today without The Hunger Games and even if I don't win this contest, I would like to say thank you for having this contest. It means a lot to me that I can share my story. I don't get to do it very often. Not only am I a huge fan of the books, but I am SO excited to see how the movie turns out!

The Hunger Games was such a great trilogy. I literally used to dream about the books at night. Suzanne Collins enabled her characters to become so alive in my head. They were so great that I made my boyfriend, sister, and my dad all read these books so i could share my excitement. I would definitely love to win these tickets, because Wendy Williams had a competition for tickets, and I tried so hard to win. For her competition you had to make a video explaining why you were the biggest Hunger Games fan which I did. I even learned how to shoot a bow and arrow and I reenacted a scene and dressed up exactly like Katniss and everything. However, on the last day, my video file refused to upload to Youtube. Needless to say, my dreams were crushed. But finding this site really brought a smile to my face, because it's one of the only ones I can find and proudly say that I am 16 and in love with these books! Please make my wish come true!

The Hunger Games reminded me at just the right moment that life goes on. As I was reading the series I learned that one of my friends had been murdered. I was devastated and did not know how to handle myself. I kept reading because Panem provided an escape from reality. I finished the final novel, Mockingjay, a few days after we buried my friend. And Katniss's final words resonated deeper within me than I ever could have imagined: "Life goes on." I want to opportunity to tell Suzanne Collins how grateful I am for her novels.

people are known to say a whole lot of things just to get what they want, but it is said that "action speak louder than words" and my actions sort of speak for themselves. My sister and I have been planning a road trip to California ever since we discovered that the premiere would be the week of our spring break. We are driving 16 hours from El paso TX, to California just to be in the same city as the movie actors. Nothing would mean more to us, than an opportunity to attend the premiere and be amongst the complete madness that is the fan base for this film. As a avid fan of the books, we cannot wait to see our favorite characters come to life, and as a passionate film fan I would personally die if i got near Donald Sutherland or Stanley Tucci, who have delivered amazing performances over the years, as well as new comers Jennifer, Josh and Liam. This would truly be an opportunity of a lifetime, and a dream come true.
