ATO Pictures will release the indie Thin Ice in theaters February 17, which stars Greg Kinnear, Lea Thompson, Alan Arkin, and Billy Crudup. Mickey Prohaska (Greg Kinnear) is a small-time insurance agent looking for a way to jump-start his business, reunite with his estranged wife (Lea Thompson) and escape the frigid Wisconsin weather. This self-proclaimed master of spin believes that salesmanship is about selling a story - all he needs is a sucker willing to buy it. He hits pay dirt with a lonely retired farmer (Alan Arkin) who is sitting on something much bigger than an insurance commission. But Mickey's attempt to con the old man spins out of control when a nosy, unstable locksmith (Billy Crudup) with a volatile temper dramatically ups the stakes, trapping him in a madcap spiral of danger, deceit and double-crossing. Blending dark comedy and delirious Midwestern noir, Thin Ice reaches a breaking point that no one - least of all Mickey Prohaska - could ever see coming.

Thin Ice was released February 17th, 2012 and stars Greg Kinnear, John Paul Gamoke, David Harbour, Jennifer Edwards-Hughes, Scott Crouch, Peter Moore, Michelle Hutchison, James Detmar. The film is directed by Jill Sprecher.

    I was an extra in the film...just like several others. On my first day; I was blocked in front of Billy Crudup and told not to speak to the actors. It was tough when he commented on my luggage. Then again we were sent to a large room at the St. Paul train depot because of a possible gas leak; and there sitting on the floor next to me was Alan Arkin. Wow, what a day...Oh, wait there's more. The next scene we filmed; I crossed paths with Greg Kinnear. I so excited.

    I signed up as an extra because the office part in the film was being done in the parking lot outside of our office window. So from the third floor we were able to watch the actors, writers, cinemographers, props and all aspects in action. And after watching this and having the experience of the first day...I signed up for a 2nd day at the Bar Scene sitting at the bar next to Greg. I saw the premiere at the Walker Art Center and was lucky enought to be in three different scenes. Small and at a distance...but I made the "cut". Now, I am hoping to take home a little souvenir. Even with all the drama...I believe Thin Ice will be enjoyable for those who give it a chance. barpatron

    I need to win the Thin Ice prizes, because I have wanted to see this movie since it came out at Sundance. I was afraid I would never get to see it until Werc Werk Works and ATO Pictures picked it up. Greg Kinnear is my favorite actor of all time, and a signed poster with him on it would be amazing to have. Also, I love the Sprecher's movies, they're such amazing writers. I absolutely need this prize package!!!
