It's the eve of Christmas in northern Finland, and an 'archeological' dig has just unearthed the real Santa Claus. But this particular Santa isn't the one you want coming to town. When the local children begin mysteriously disappearing, young Pietari and his father Rauno, a reindeer hunter by trade, capture the mythological being and attempt to sell Santa to the misguided leader of the multinational corporation sponsoring the dig. Santa's elves, however, will stop at nothing to free their fearless leader from captivity. What ensues is a wildly humorous nightmare - a fantastically bizarre polemic on modern day morality.

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale is a re-imagining of the most classic of all childhood fantasies, and is a darkly comic gem soon to be required perennial holiday viewing.

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale was released December 3rd, 2010 and stars Per Christian Ellefsen, Peeter Jakobi, Tommi Korpela, Jorma Tommila, Jonathan Hutchings, Onni Tommila, Risto Salmi, Rauno Juvonen. The film is directed by Jalmari Helander.

Years ago, my buddy and I had a stopover in Finland during December. We were introduced to the "REAL SANTA CLAUS". I want to see if they introduced us to the real one and see if I recognize them in this movie that looks great.

Oh wow! I just watched the trailer and I actually want to see this now. I didn't know anything about this movie until now. I looks really good. I love this idea of the story. Catching a killer Santa sounds awesome. I know similar movies have worked with killer Santas before but they never seemed to work. But I think this film has the best shot. I really want to see this movie.

Oh I've been dreaming of owning this on Blu-ray since I first saw it at a free screening at the Cinefamily, an independent theater in LA. Maybe even further back when I saw the first trailer on youtube. It's something I'd like to share with my friends round the holidays as the perfect Christmas time movie. A perfect 80's movie made now and really a story about a son looking for respect from his father. This year Dick Maas' Saint or Sint might be the next big Christmas horror film. It has it's LA premiere at UCLA this Thursday, but I doubt it will be as naked old man crazy as Rare Exports
