Camel Spiders

During a routine desert patrol, an U.S. Military unit head by Captain Sturges (Brian Krause) is ambushed by insurgents. Just when they seemed to be outgunned, the attack suddenly stops...and their would-be assassins are dragged off by what a native liaison calls "the devils of the sand." Wounded in the battle, Sturges earns a ticket back home to the more hospitable deserts of the Southwestern United States.

Bringing back one of his fallen comrades, Sturges doesn't realize that a couple of camel spiders stowed away and now have access to an environment where they can breed at an exponential rate, freely hunting for prey and unafraid of any predator - including man. No place is safe, no one is beyond their paralyzing sting. In the end, a small band of hearty fighters are forced to make one last stand against the creatures.

Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel

This film tracks the triumphant rise of the true "godfather" of independent filmmaking, Roger Corman. The single most prolific writer-director-producer, Corman financed hundreds of profitable low-budget films and helped launch the careers of Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, James Cameron, and many more. With archival footage of American culture and countercultures from the 1950's to present day, and dynamic interviews with alumni of Corman's cutthroat school of filmmaking, Corman's World takes us back to the days when Corman was King. The film also shows the rise of the recent Corman renaissance featuring Indiewood's new school of filmmakers - including Quentin Tarantino, Paul W.S. Anderson and Eli Roth. And of course it follows Roger himself as he successfully continues to produce and distribute films outside the studio system the Corman way: fast, cheap and out-of-this-world!

Camel Spiders was released March 27th, 2012 and stars Brian Krause, C. Thomas Howell, Melissa Brasselle, Diana Terranova, GiGi Erneta, Jon Mack, Michael Swan, Hayley Sanchez. The film is directed by Jim Wynorski.

Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel was released December 16th, 2011 and stars Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Jack Nicholson, Ron Howard, William Shatner, Traci Lords, Eli Roth. The film is directed by Alex Stapleton.

Although these recent Corman productions represent lesser entries in the Corman film cannon, they do embody the spirt of his earliest films. If I won, I'd be most excited about the "Corman's World" Blu-ray!.
