This looks fantastic. Soderbergh is back! Of course i love films of this nature. I read the Hot Zone when i was younger and have been fascinated with biological and chemical studies ever since. hell, i even joined the army to do that.

The film looks solid, but it's far less than what I'd hoped. I've been following this one with interest for some time, but the simple fact is that it looks like a carbon copy of the tens of other "virus" movies we've seen in the past. I would've liked to have seen a lot more originality in terms of the story. The simple fact is that it's basically a zombie movie without the zombies, and where's the fun in that? But, it's Matt Damon, so I'm in.

  22. The Narrator: The Better Man

Well, Right At Your Door was pretty disappointing. For what they did with their budget, it was great, but in terms of story-telling, it was rather dull and depressing to watch. As for Outbreak, that film was far too confined and it's characters weren't appealing. At least this film has a wider reach, with strong actors playing more relate-able characters, which in turn makes the ultimatum stronger. That is, from the looks of things. Comparing the three films is very much like comparing any mission into space film with one another - it doesn't do any of the films justice.

Soderbergh is known for making slower, more content filled films, and this looks no different. One should expect that before going into the theater. As far as the cast goes, well, the film has to make it's budget back somehow, and this isn't the typical crowd drawing film. Featuring an all star cast helps up the quality of the production as well as forward the story more coherently than it would with possibly weaker actors. Then, showcasing the cast is obviously the usual technique of selling the film to the impatient or otherwise uninterested masses. I don't feel that the films concept was drowned out by it, however, so there's really nothing wrong in the film marketing, in my opinion. This film was clearly made for a specific type of viewer, and either you're there or you're not. I'll most definitely be there.

while it does remind me of OUTBREAK, it still looks like a vary good movie on it's own. and that cast is awesome. even some of the supporting players like enrico colantoni (sp?) will make it even better. i typically dont like soderbergh's work but this looks good. i think i'll go see it. and it opens on my birthday!

  25. Bryan Yentz

Blah, blah, blah... Looks insanely dull as it promotes the casting choice over actual content. Looks like an even more boring version of OUTBREAK crossed with RIGHT AT YOUR FRONT DOOR

  26. The Narrator: The Better Man

I was worried on how exactly they'd handle the scale of such a thing, and I applaud what I'm seeing. F*cking awesome cast, good director, and solid concept. Can not wait for this. Crappy poster, though. :P
