COMIC-CON 2008: Saw V Panel and Brand New Teaser Trailer

For the fourth year in a row, Comic-Con fans saw, umm, Saw. The filmmakers and cast behind the latest installment of this popular franchise, Saw V. This year the panel consisted producers Olen Koules and Marc Berg, director David Hackl, actors Tobin Bell, Julie Benz, Betsy Russell, Costas Mandylor and Scott Patterson along with the screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton.

After this talented line-up was brought out to rip-roaring applause, writers Dunstan and Melton were asked what the challenges of upping the so-called ante every time around.

"Well, the Saw franchise has prided itself on being an aggressive puzzle within itself," Dunstan said. "With these directors, these producers and these actors, they've assured that every time someone watches one of these scary, viscious stories, that it rewards coming back again and again and again. Five's no different. We're gonna kick your ass back into the seat."

Here are some other highlights from the panel:

- Producer Marc Burg joked that there was a running bet going that within 15 minutes of the panel ending, their new footage would be on YouTube. "By 9:15 I expect to see it on the computer," Berg said. Laughter ensued.

- Koules announces that they're about to show us a brand new clip that features a solid new trap. He was half-right... since we did see a new trap, but it was, in fact, the new teaser trailer, and not the new footage. Take a look at this new teaser below

- Scott Patterson then talked about that intricate trap, saying it was one of the most terrifying experiences of his life and that he had to be persuaded to actually finish the trap. It appeared he was actually shook up in real life just talking about the part, although, joking, he added, "My heart is racing talking about it. Leave me alone!"

- Patterson also praised Tobin Bell for his work ethic and inspiration on the film.

- To close out the panel, we were shown the actual new clip with the new trap. We don't have the footage, but here's the gist of it:

- A man wakes up strapped to an iron bed, with his feet shackled and metal braces around his neck and chest.

- Of course, the TV comes on and we se our favorite puppet once more who informs this man, who has taken others lives with his own hands, that he must sacrifice his own hands in order to save his own life.

- He must stick his hands in these vise-grip-like devices, within a certain amount of time...

- ... or else a razor-sharp swinging pendulum will continue to lower until it first just makes contact with his flesh, and will eventually slice him in two.

Saw V hits theaters on October 24.

Saw V was released October 24th, 2008 and stars Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Scott Patterson, Betsy Russell, Julie Benz, Meagan Good, Mark Rolston, Carlo Rota. The film is directed by David Hackl.

Okay for the last time people, I'm not going to say it again on any future Saw topics...Tobin Bell aka Jigsaw signed on for 6 films...we are on 4 now correct with 5 and 6 on the way? Okay for all the stupid people...now add 4 + 2 what does that equal? 6 for those who cannot count. THERE WILL BE 2 MORE MOVIES! I KNOW EVERYONE READS THIS SO STOP ACTING SO SURPRISED EVERYTIME THEY MENTION THE NEW FILM. "Oh there's another one?!" F*cking retarded people drive me nuts! They have talked about it for months and there have been SEVERAL topics discussing it. If you're going to choose to be stupid and/or ignorant, do it offline and by yourself.

Hell..at Louisville's, KY....."2008 WonderFest's" featured vtwo actors who starred in Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey," which also celebrates its 40th anniversary this year in 2008!.

"Saw V" was a sell out!

You know that "2008 Comic-Con" has gone down hill, when it does 1 of 2 things. These things are:

    A) due to these hard econonmic times.."2008 Comic-Con" decides to show something this silly & mainstream as "Saw V"!
    &/Or
    B) The studio needs to make all the moeny it can; since how many more times does these mundane sequels can there be?!.

Instead the "2008 Comic-Con" should have mabey screened: "Rosemary's Baby". Since 2008 Marked it's 40th Anniversary! Or mabey the "ORGINIAL" film "The Day The Earth Stood Still"!.

If I went to the "Comic-Co 2008", the "ONLY" thing I would have checked out, would have been meeting director Guy Ritchie! He was there to screen footage of his new film: "RocknRolla" W.Stars: Geard Butler, Jeremy Piven & Ludacris, And producer Joel Silver in attendance..! Coool..! ......"My movies are sort of like graphic novels," Ritchie says. "They're bigger than life. Where else are going to find characters with names like Bullet Tooth Tony?' ...

    ("RocknRolla" Hits Theaters Oct.3, 2008!)

yea i've seen this already moviedirector and no, actually its a voice masking film that covers his voicebox, much like the one used in MI:2. That's why in the poster of Saw V you see the face of Tobin cut out and used as a mask, then he speaks using the voice masking device which basically makes him tobin.

    Next Question.

"slice him in two" this sounds really brutal... definetly gonna watch this one.

Just one question? Jiggsaw died the last time and another person came in, but still we hear Tobin Bells voice.
Does the new killer have program so that his voice is disstoreted and tobin bells voice added insted?
