COMIC-CON 2006: Guillermo del Toro Hopeful for Hellboy 2

Today at the San Diego Comic-con, Hellboy director, Guillermo del Toro told fans that there was no word from the studio on whether or not a Hellboy sequel would get a green light, but that he remains hopeful.

"I hope it gets made, but that is really all I can say right now..."

The director said a franchise can "prove to be taxing" according to the director, we would like to move forward with a second film and is excited about the script which has seen the approval of Hellboy creator, Mike Mignola.

Mignola stated that while the content of the Hellboy 2 script is being kept under wraps, it will have echoes of the same themes he's exploring in some soon-to-be-released Hellboy comic books.

Hellboy was released April 2nd, 2004 and stars Ron Perlman, John Hurt, Selma Blair, Rupert Evans, Karel Roden, Jeffrey Tambor, Doug Jones, Brian Steele. The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro.
