Columbia Pictures Acquires Battle: Los Angeles

Columbia Pictures made a preemptive acquisition of Chris Bertolini's spec, Battle: Los Angeles, about an alien invasion that starts in Santa Monica and heads east toward Los Angeles.

According to Variety, Neal Moritz plans to produce through his Original Films banner.

No word on when production will begin.

    Well as far as the title...this is probably alluding to the actual event known as "The Battle of Los Angeles" which happened in February 1942 -- Something flew over the city...Anti aircraft artillery fired at it for over an hour and didn't hit anything...Some speculate that what passed over Los Angeles that night was not enemy aircraft but a UFO...
