Colin Farrell has passed on Warner Bros' upcoming medieval drama, Arthur & Lancelot. He parted ways with the project due to scheduling conflicts.
David Dobkin is directing for Warner Bros.

The heavy action role of Lancelot requires a lot of prep and training, which conflicted with the actors timeline. The script for the film, which the studio bought from the director last year for $2 million, is a re-think of the classic Arthurian legend. The idea was to pair the actor with Gary Oldman (Merlin) and actor James McAvoy (King Arthur).

This marks the second casting dilemma for the project, which original had Joel Kinnaman playing Lancelot with Kit Harington as Arthur. We reported only 2 weeks ago that the actor was interested.

The film is still in development with an possible March 2013 release date.

Given that Hollywood reboots stories from comics and video games every day, then something as rich and long-lasting as the Arthurian legend can surely inspire a few more movies. Whether this one will be any good is another matter altogether.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx yea I know, seems that's all Hollywood does now a days is rehash stuff. I guess if it makes em money they will make anything.

@superman81 -- Because they know most people will continue to see the same story rehashed, even if it means they have to pay for it.

How many King Arthur and Lancelot movies are they going to make? I think King Arthur with Clive Owen was a pretty good movie and dont see why they wanna keep pumping these movies out

I just pray that McAvoy says yes. Farrell is no great loss for me.
