Last month, we reported that Colin Firth was offered the villain role in Spike Lee's Oldboy remake. The actor recently passed on the project, and now the producers have offered the role to Clive Owen.

Director Spike Lee previously worked with Clive Owen on the 2006 heist thriller Inside Man, which may work in favor of the actor signing on. Clive Owen hasn't officially accepted the offer as of yet.

Spike Lee is directing Oldboy from a screenplay by Mark Protosevich. It isn't known when production may begin on the Oldboy remake yet.

Oldboy comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley. The film is directed by Spike Lee.
