Clint Eastwood to direct biopic on J. Edgar Hoover
Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black has been set to write the film and Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer will produce the film, which they had initially set up at Universal. The project isn't set up at a studio now, but it will likely end up at Warner Bros. where Eastwood's Malpaso production company is set up.
Hoover was one of the original founders of the FBI in 1935 and remained the director of the organization until he died in 1972. It was said that he used the agency to spy on political leaders and held secret files on many prominent Americans. Some assert that Hoover was also a closet homosexual and crossdresser as well.
No production schedule was released for the film.
