Clint Eastwood Gets Racist with Gran Torino

For awhile, people wrongfully assumed that director Clint Eastwood's next project was a long overdue fifth sequel to his original 1971 cop drama Dirty Harry. But that information was proven false. As it turns out, Gran Torino is actually about an old racist man that bonds with an ethnic teenager over their shared love of cars.

Now, Eastwood has spoken out on the film. In an interview published by USA Today, Clint described his Gran Torino character while out promoting The Changeling. Here is what he had to say:
"I'm a weirdo in it. I play a real racist. ... It's a great time in life (to do that) because, you know, what can they do to you once you're past 70? There's nothing they can do. But it also has redemption. This Hmong family moves in next door, and he has been in the Korean War, in the infantry, and looks down on Asian people and lumps everybody together. But finally they befriend him in his time of need because he has no relationship with his family."

Gran Torino does not have a set release date, but it should be in theaters before the end of the year.

Gran Torino was released December 12th, 2008 and stars Clint Eastwood, Christopher Carley, Bee Vang, Ahney Her, Brian Haley, Geraldine Hughes, Dreama Walker, Brian Howe. The film is directed by Clint Eastwood.

I personally liked Million Dollar Baby a lot {and all of Clint Eastwood's other films}. This will be no exception. He really knows how to portray the emotions of the characters and the story, making it deep and lasting. This is definitely in my top ten anticipated films for...well, for whenever this comes out...

Ever heard of Unforgiven killerman? 4 academy awards, including Best Picture AND Best Director. Or how about Mystic River, which received numerous nominations including Best Direction. Or maybe The Outlaw Josey Wales, one of the greatest movies ever.
