Christopher Nolan Dispels The Dark Knight Rises Joker Rumor

Christopher Nolan debunks Joker rumor
Christopher Nolan debunks Joker rumor
Yesterday, an old rumor started to swing its head that claimed Christopher Nolan was going to bring back Heath Ledger's The Joker for The Dark Knight Rises using deleted footage and CGI. Now, the director himself has come forward to debunk this claim, which quickly spread across the globe.

The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Nolan and his wife/producing partner Emma Thomas yesterday, and asked them about this supposed Heath Ledger footage. Emma Thomas was quick to respond by saying, "I heard that rumor...We're not doing that."

Nolan went onto confirm that the Joker would not be showing up in The Dark Knight Rises, and that the script isn't even completed yet. He also stated that he wants the Joker to be contained solely within 2008's The Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight Rises was released July 20th, 2012 and stars Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

Look, bring the character back...after watching Inception multiple times I almost believe Nolan was auditioning Joseph Gordon-Levitt to take over...the kid can act, he looks the part...seriously do some comparison shots of Levitt and Ledger, give the kid a shot to make it his own...and I believe he could f*cken own it as the Joker.

I agree 100% with you on that @bane5000 he did a phenomenal job and i love how Nolan has enough sense and respect for that to not sh*t on one of Heath's greatest performances

Nolan was happy with the outcome of Ledgers Joker, and u can tell from reward shows afterwards when he would accept for Heath, he was really saddened from his passin, so its best he keep Ledgers legacy as the Joker in the performance he shocked and pleased the world and fans with in The Dark Knight, now we must move of to the next villian and have a great conclusion to what maybe one of a few trilogies that ends with a good story...

I told you people, no offence, I know Nolan, he wouldn't do any kind of disrespect like that to Ledger Legacy and the character he portrayed.

...Someone left a similiar concept like that on another site, including Dr. Dtrange, it went a lil something like this...

" at the end, when Strange is captured, he gets locked up in Arkham Asylum, while sitting on the floor contemplating his defeat, a card slides from under his door, a Joker card, The Joker is in the cell next to his and as soon as Strange picks up the card and looks out his celldoor window nervously, u hear the Joker say " welcome to the nut house ", then starts to laught maniaclly as the camera begins to pull away from Strange as hes yeling and hitting the window and it fades to black with the Joker continually laughs... Not completely broken up about this. Would've been cool, but this way Heath will always be remembered for his legendary performance in 08. Here's hoping we get solid facts from now on.

@The Mime, that's pretty good, but I'd hold off creating scenario's until Nolan decides to tell us who the villain will actually be, and what story he is basing his tale on.

Check this out...... At the end, when Dr. Strange was defeated and captured. He was brought to the Arkhem Asylum. Envision this... Months have passed with little or no crime in Gotham. Back at Arkhem Asylum, Strange and the other villains are in their cells. So as Strange was sitting there a "guard" was walking by... he moves closer to Strange's cell; next thing you know a letter is already on the cell floor. Strange read it..... "Gotham has had its peace, I think it is time we remind them the horror they once faced"......looking deeper into the envelope we can see the JOKER's calling card. As the camera rolls away from Arkhem...BOOM!..a corner of the building is blown out and Strange and Joker, including many if not all of the villain escaped.

From this we didn't see the face of joker...we didn't hear the voice of joker....It flow nicely into the idea of making a TV show of Batman....instead of coming up with new beginnings and stuff, they can set it off with this... And since we didn't see or hear any joker from the final film...They can have the opportunity to make type of Joker that they want..(If they still don't want to go with Heath's version of Joker).....

Well, what do you people think of The Mime's scene...?

meh. im fine either way. joker was a badass we all know that, but like @gandolff said maybe at the end where you just see his face behind bars it would be cool. but hey i trust nolan cos man this guy can probably make a pepsi commercial epic.

i think its best they dont use the Joker in this film, just move on to the next villain, u didtn see them mention anything about Ras in The Dark Knight, they should do the same with The Joker, he was captured and now move on to a new threat is in town. Keep Heaths legendary performance in the movie he was actually involved in, not a CGI double playing Heath with stock footage...

Shew, what a relief! I was concerned something like that would happen, but thank goodness Nolan has some sense. Ledger made TDK amazing, his performance was legendary and it should be left where it is at...as legendary.

If they used scarecrow in batman begiins and dark knight, i dont see why it wouldnt hurt to give joker alil cameo in batman3. even if its only as flashbacks or lil cards and joker props. i dont c wats the big deal. more money for the family. and bettr ratings for the film.

Like I said yesterday, I was fine either way. What I found the most interesting was that Nolan said the script is still being finished. I wonder now about the accuracy of all the rumors of TDKR's plot and villain(s).

I am glad they will not used unused film of Heath as the Joker. But I personaly woulnt mind a cameo of the Joker. Dosnt have to speak. Say Batman walks the cell block of Arkhem, and you see the smile in a cell door as he passes. It was done on many Batman animated movies and games. Showing Batman the winner over those he faces, couse they are all locked up with the cells being of glass where you see all the main villians he faces in the bars. I think that would be really kool ending. Would give him a clean finish to his story as Batman won out, and the villians behind bars, and he says he will be ready, and waiting to put them back in "if" they find a way to get out... :) Would leave it open for the studio and other Directors, cleanly end his take, and open up for a fresh take in the future "IF" he wants to come back in a few years also...

If people kept up with what Nolan says, these rumors would never exist. Nolan already recently said The Joker would not appear in Batman 3. I'm not sure where these bogus rumors start or if they are fabricated purely for views.

Speaking of deleted Joker content...uh yeah, I'm sure we all want to see this. I was really disappointed with The Dark Knight DVD...all the special features sucked! Photo gallery, Gotham News, and NO commentary? Really got ripped off I thought.
